System Test / Automation Engineer Intern

We are seeking a System Test / Automation Engineer Intern to help with optimizing our test processes. In this role, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and management of our test infrastructure and tools. You will acquire skills to create and execute test cases for our applications and services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate and streamline our release testing, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to the overall architecture and strategy of our quality assurance activities
Applications are open until March 10th. Interviews will take place at the end of March/Early April. Internships will begin in June and end in August 2025.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with diverse teams to define testing strategies for challenging and innovative projects.
- Develop and execute detailed test plans using a combination of automation and manual testing.
- Triage integration issues, replicate problems, and assist in identifying root causes and solutions.
- Escalate potential issues (Software, Hardware, Resources) to the Project Manager/Executive team.
- Track testing activities, ensuring clear alignment across key stakeholders
- Identify areas for improvement in test coverage and methodology, providing valuable suggestions.
- Act as the gatekeeper for each release, representing the voice of customers and providing constructive feedback.
Qualifications and Experience
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Electrical engineering, or other related fields and interested in a career in QA/Automation/Release testing, networking, or a similar field.
- Familiarity with the Linux/UNIX command line and proficiency in shell scripting / Python coding
- Familiarity with Quality Assurance best practices for embedded platforms
- Basic knowledge of Ethernet networking.
- Familiarity with common test frameworks such as PyTest, Playwright, Behave, or similar.
- Excellent problem-solving, technical, and analytical abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- An open and innovative mindset.
- Ability to work from our Sunnyvale HQ 3 days a week.
Preferred Experience
- Ability to develop, review, and modify Python scripts to enhance test coverage and automation
- Experience with designing and implementing test tools for automation
- Familiarity in test methodologies with exposure to system-level testing of physical devices
- Review and challenge product requirements, design, and functional specifications.

The posted salary range is a general guideline and represents a good faith estimate of what Sonatus ("Company") could reasonably expect to pay for this position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs. The Company reserves the right to modify this range in the future, as needed, as market conditions change.

$20 - $25 USD
