About the Role

SonderMind is seeking a bold and strategic analytics leader to shape the future of data-driven decision-making across our Consumer and Commercial teams. In this high-impact role, you’ll lead a talented team of analysts, driving the insights that power everything from day-to-day operations to company-wide strategy. You’ll own the prioritization and execution of analytics initiatives that uncover growth opportunities, optimize performance, and influence the direction of our business. What you’ll do

  • Lead and manage a high-performing team of data analysts, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and support for career development.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement through developing your team; provide subject-matter expertise and mentorship to the broader analytics department.
  • Drive cross-functional analytics initiatives by partnering with stakeholders across multiple channels of our business to help define KPIs, uncover insights, and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate and report to leaders and executives; be comfortable navigating relationships and bringing an informed perspective to cross-functional senior leadership from business functions to tech.
  • Establish and promote best practices in analytics engineering, including data modeling, testing, documentation, and deployment workflows.
  • Deliver and Support outcomes by owning high-impact workstreams and delivering actionable insights through influence, and managing your team’s priorities.
  • Ensure high data quality and availability by implementing monitoring, validation, and governance processes within your team that develop trust in data.
  • Translate complex business problems into structured analytical approaches, ensuring your team is constantly delivering clear, actionable recommendations to senior leaders.

What does success look like?  

  • Within one month, have a clear understanding of the metrics that drive our business, and have a data-informed decision on the top 3 focus areas that will lead to improving those metrics; develop high-trust relationships with your direct reports and senior leaders at the company.
  • Within two months identify gaps in the high priority projects in flight and begin building towards a more comprehensive approach; understand and own your individual work streams and drive forward progress on them. 
  • Within three months, develop direct relationships with execs and key leaders in the Consumer & Commercial business and have a clear vision for the analytics team to support our fast-paced growth.

You have extensive experience with business insight tools and SQL, and comfort with other tools, scripting languages, and data science methodologies.

  • Business Insights: Demonstrates an understanding of the business model, market dynamics and revenue levers, to inform and anticipate future strategies, changes and trends and an ability to drive to next level insights, unlocking the ‘so what’
  • Resilience & Adaptability: Effective with limited information or direction; comfortable with risk and uncertainty and ambiguity; self-directed and proactive
  • Learning Agility: Shows a strong willingness to learn and adjust to new people and environments. Actively works to understand strengths, identify opportunities to develop, embrace new ways of thinking and apply new information

Experience:

  • 8+ years of work experience in relevant progressive roles
  • Experience leading, or demonstrated capacity to lead, analytics teams from data intelligence to recommendation
  • Track record of leveraging data and insights to develop ideas and move them from concept through implementation with tangible impact on operating/financial performance
  • Technical proficiency in statistical analytics/data visualization/business insight tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, PowerBI), and SQL.  Python, R, Data Science, Snowflake experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience in an early or growth-stage startup or in a high-growth environment (particularly in digital healthcare) is a plus
  • Graduate degree in business, finance, marketing, statistics, computer science, applied math, or a quantitative behavioral sciences field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is a plus

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $135,000 annually. In addition to base compensation, this role is also eligible for a variable bonus and equity.
