About the Role

SonderMind is looking to hire a Senior Analyst with a strong background in data analysis and visualization to work with a high-performing team of data analysts, responsible for delivering actionable insights that inform operational and strategic decision-making to drive our business forward.

This role will independently own and manage the end-to-end process to generate business insights and recommendations related to the Payor Operations at SonderMind.

You will be responsible for proactively advising on and owning the data structure, integrity, and governance, and you will drive significant insights internally for our teams, often leading specific analytical initiatives.

  • Work flexibly across teams within the organization, leading efforts (or driving recommendations on) data structure, integrity, accuracy, and governance.
  • Provide in-depth analysis and strategic insights for work streams related to payor negotiations and operations to independently influence decisions, support testing/negotiations, and drive novel approaches to this vertical.
  • Collaborate effectively and lead discussions throughout the organization, including with product, engineering, and payor team and proactively communicate and present recommendations to leaders and project managers.

You will be joining a Data Analytics team that is driven, passionate, and collaborative. Our ideal candidate should have exceptional attention to detail, strong work ethic, critical thinking skills, and high comfort independently communicating and presenting complex insights with leaders.

 

What you’ll do 

  • Independently lead end-to-end data analysis initiatives supporting Payor Operations, from scoping through insight delivery

  • Design, maintain, and improve data structures and governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and scalability

  • Develop and deliver dashboards, reports, and ad hoc analyses that provide actionable insights and support business decision-making

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Payor team, advising on data-driven strategies and surfacing key performance drivers

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to inform and influence roadmaps and negotiations

  • Identify, monitor, and analyze key metrics to assess program performance and recommend optimization strategies

  • Own and manage reporting cycles for payor operations with minimal oversight, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality outputs

  • Present findings and recommendations to leaders and stakeholders using clear, compelling data storytelling

  • Support testing, pilot tracking, and performance evaluation related to payor agreements and initiatives

  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation within the analytics function and broader business

  • Stay current with analytics tools and industry best practices to continuously enhance analytical capabilities and outputs

 

 

What does success look like?  

Within one month: You have a clear understanding of the tech stack and the status quo reporting and data structure. You have a clear understanding of the metrics that drive the business area you support and understand the key players and technologies that will be essential to your job. You have begun to identify initial opportunities for improvement or new insights within your vertical.

Within two months: You understand the drivers of your area of business and are independently leading the insights and data that shape the product, including advising on data structure and governance. You are also independently owning the reporting cycle for the payor team, requiring minimal assistance.

Within three months: You are a trusted and go-to expert within the business team for your vertical. You are proactively tracking pilots/negotiations/tests, identifying root causes of performance, and surfacing actionable insights to significantly improve the approach and product. You have developed and socialized the initial key metrics for your vertical and have a clear sense of what success looks like for the payor, and are proactively driving initiatives to achieve those goals.

 

Who You Are 

  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and statistical analytics / data visualization / business insight tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Alteryx, PowerBI).
  • Python, R, Data Science, Snowflake experience is a plus.
  • 5+ years of work experience in relevant analytics/analytics engineering roles.
  • Degree in statistics, computer science, applied math, business, or a quantitative behavioral sciences field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working with insurance specific data including claims data, CPT codes, and market rate analysis. 
  • Previous experience in an early or growth-stage startup or in a high-growth environment.
  • Experience in digital healthcare.

 

Our Benefits 

The anticipated salary range for this role is $88,000 - $99,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, and past performance. In addition to base salary, this position may also be eligible for a variable bonus and equity.
