SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. This role ensures the integrity of the general ledger through accurate journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and month-end close support. The ideal candidate brings a strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of GAAP, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cash Management and Revenue Accounting

  • Perform daily cash reconciliation of bank accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare weekly cash position reports and assist with cash flow forecasting.
  • Ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with GAAP (ASC 606) and company policy.
  • Record and reconcile daily revenue transactions across all channels (cash, credit card, ACH, wire).
  • Prepare and post monthly revenue journal entries, including accruals and deferrals.
  • Maintain and reconcile deferred revenue and accounts receivable subledgers.
  • Assist with revenue reporting and variance analysis for monthly management packages.

Month-End Close & Reporting

  • Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with the month-end close calendar.
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and investigate and resolve variances.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain organized work papers and documentation to support internal and external audits.
  • Assist with annual external audit by providing requested schedules and supporting documentation.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Identify opportunities to streamline revenue recording and cash reconciliation processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and SOX requirements.
  • Assist in the documentation and maintenance of accounting procedures and desk guides.
  • Improve and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, GAAP, and other regulatory requirements.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably with a focus on revenue or cash.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, particularly revenue recognition principles (ASC 606).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data reconciliation).
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Acumatica, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, accounting, and internal control concepts.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented with a commitment to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, friendly, professional, and proactive manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-unit environment.
  • CPA candidate or CPA license a plus.
  • Be a team player, and willing to contribute beyond the defined role to meet business needs as circumstances require.
  • Proven reliability of attendance.

COMPENSATION:

At Sono Bello, we believe that our team members are the keys to our success. The compensation range for this role is $90,000 - $105,000 depending on experience.

Compensation Range

$90,000 - $105,000 USD

Pay may vary by location, and actual compensation depends on factors like qualifications, experience, skills, and business needs. Sono Bello may adjust this range in the future. Full-time employees may also receive benefits such as incentives, equity, health coverage, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.

Benefits Package includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401K, EAP, PTO, and Paid Holidays. (Benefits eligibility may vary based on employment status.)
