Location: South San Francisco, CA (local candidates only)

Reports to: Gene Therapy Scientist - Analytics 

Duration: 2 to 3 Months during summer

What you will learn:

• Gain understanding of nucleic acids analysis workflow, including nucleic acid extraction from animal tissues and analysis by ddPCR and qPCR. 

• How to develop exploratory protocols involving high-throughput sample processing and new methods development. 

Job Duties:

• Kit-based DNA and RNA extraction from tissue samples (AllPrep, DNeasy) 

• Operation of qPCR and ddPCR equipment 

• Method development including probe-based assay design and optimization of protocols for new tissue types 

• Analysis, QC, and plotting of data 

• Record keeping in ELN such as Benchling 

• Basic laboratory organizational skills 

• Improving collaboration skills by working with a close-knit group of researchers 

• Experience working in a biotech environment. 

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or a related field, with expected graduation within the next year 

• Alternatively, currently enrolled in a master's program in Biological Sciences or a related discipline 

 

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $27.00/hr USD (pursuing bachelor’s degree) and $30.00/hr (pursuing MS).
