Duration: 2 to 3 Months during summer

What you will learn:
- Gain understanding of nucleic acids analysis workflow, including nucleic acid extraction from animal tissues and analysis by ddPCR and qPCR.
- How to develop exploratory protocols involving high-throughput sample processing and new methods development.
Job Duties:
- Kit-based DNA and RNA extraction from tissue samples (AllPrep, DNeasy)
- Operation of qPCR and ddPCR equipment
- Method development including probe-based assay design and optimization of protocols for new tissue types
- Analysis, QC, and plotting of data
- Record keeping in ELN such as Benchling
- Basic laboratory organizational skills
- Improving collaboration skills by working with a close-knit group of researchers
- Experience working in a biotech environment.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or a related field, with expected graduation within the next year
- Alternatively, currently enrolled in a master's program in Biological Sciences or a related discipline
Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $27.00/hr USD (pursuing bachelor’s degree) and $30.00/hr (pursuing MS).
