Position Summary
Sony Honda Mobility of America (SHMA) is seeking a proactive and organized Workplace Specialist to join our team in Torrance, CA. This on-site role plays a vital part in supporting the daily operations of our workplace, ensuring our space remains productive, welcoming, and aligned with our values.
As the first point of contact for workplace operations, you’ll oversee office facilities, coordinate vendors, support employee events, and maintain an environment that reflects our culture of innovation and inclusion. You’ll collaborate closely with People Ops, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure our employees feel supported from Day 1 and beyond.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth daily operations of the Torrance office, including maintenance, cleanliness, supply management, and equipment readiness.
- Serve as the go-to contact for all workplace-related questions and requests.
- Greet and assist visitors, manage front desk operations, and support a professional, welcoming office atmosphere.
- Partner with the People team to organize employee events, wellness activities, team celebrations, and company traditions that build culture and engagement.
- Coordinate vendor services including janitorial, catering, security, and building management.
- Support seating assignments and space planning; manage office moves and reconfigurations as needed.
- Maintain inventory and order office supplies, snacks, and marketing/event materials.
- Collaborate with IT, People Ops, and hiring managers to prepare workstations, welcome gifts, and onboarding experiences for new hires.
- Contribute to workplace safety initiatives and support emergency preparedness protocols.
- Create an inclusive, high-functioning workplace that supports diverse working styles and teams, including hybrid and remote employees when applicable.
- Assist with workplace budget tracking and invoice processing related to vendors and operational expenses.
Required Qualifications for Position
- 5+ years of experience in workplace operations, office management, or facilities coordination, ideally within a people-first or startup environment.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Experience working cross-functionally with People Ops, IT, and leadership teams.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and workplace systems/tools.
- Strong customer service mindset and passion for building welcoming, inclusive work environments.
- Creative, resourceful, and proactive in identifying ways to improve the employee experience.
Preferred Qualifications for Position
- Experience supporting or scaling workplace operations in high-growth or startup organizations.
- Background in employee experience, engagement, or event coordination.
- Familiarity with vendor management platforms, office planning tools, or hybrid work support technologies.
Additional Details
- Work Arrangement: This is a full-time, on-site role based in Torrance, CA, Monday through Friday.
- Travel Requirements: Minimal, but may include local support at SHMA headquarters in Culver City or related company events.
- Visa Sponsorship: Not available for this position.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $85,000-$95,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
