Position Summary

Sony Honda Mobility of America Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team in Culver City, CA. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, hands-on professional who enjoys building systems from the ground up and thrives in fast-paced, startup-like environments.

As a Senior Accountant, you will support core accounting operations across multiple areas—Accounts Receivable (AR), Fixed Assets (FA), Inventory and Cost Accounting, General Ledger (GL), and Expense. You will play a pivotal role in SHMA’s ERP implementation, owning assigned modules and supporting post-go-live operations. This position offers the chance to shape foundational financial processes and influence cross-functional systems development.

Job Responsibilities

Operational Accounting

  • Provide hands-on support in AR, FA, Inventory/Cost, GL, and Expense areas, with assignments based on business priorities.
  • Prepare and post journal entries; perform monthly reconciliations and create financial schedules to support close processes.
  • Collaborate with AP Specialist and broader Finance team to ensure accurate and efficient end-to-end accounting operations.
  • Assist with audit requests by preparing relevant documentation and supporting internal/external auditors.

Process & System Development

  • Support ERP implementation (Oracle preferred), assuming responsibility for assigned modules during and after rollout.
  • Contribute to the development of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls as SHMA scales.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and propose practical, system-supported solutions.
  • Participate in system testing, troubleshooting, and enhancement feedback post-ERP go-live.
  • Support cross-functional teams by applying accounting expertise to business and technology initiatives.

Required Qualifications for Position

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, covering multiple functions such as AR, GL, FA, or Inventory.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Experience working in dynamic or fast-changing environments; ability to adapt quickly to new systems or processes.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong general computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications for Position

  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly Oracle ERP.
  • Familiarity with expense auditing and employee reimbursement workflows.
  • Knowledge of internal control design and accounting policy documentation.
  • CPA or CMA certification (or currently pursuing certification).
  • Prior involvement in ERP implementation or financial systems projects.
  • Exposure to audit preparation (internal or external).

Additional Details

  • Work Arrangement: This is an on-site role based in Culver City, CA. 
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal, though occasional travel to other SHMA sites may be required. 
  • Visa Sponsorship: Not available for this position.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $110,000-$120,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
