Position Summary
Sony Honda Mobility of America (SHMA) is seeking a detail-oriented and process-driven Senior Accounts Payable Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This role is critical to ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant accounts payable operations while also supporting broader operational accounting activities during a key phase of company growth.
SHMA is currently approaching ERP go-live, with implementation planned for April. While system configuration and testing are largely complete, the Finance team is focused on finalizing, documenting, and operationalizing accounting processes. This role will help translate designed workflows into effective day-to-day execution and support the transition into steady-state operations.
Given the size and growth stage of the organization, this position will also provide cross-functional accounting support across areas such as General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Inventory as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who values operational excellence, ownership, and hands-on contribution in a dynamic environment.
Job Responsibilities
Accounts Payable and Operational Accounting
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable activities, including vendor setup and maintenance, invoice processing, payment execution, and adherence to internal policies and controls.
- Perform day-to-day accounting tasks such as AP-related journal entries, account reconciliations, accrual support, and preparation for month-end close.
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records in accordance with IFRS and SHMA accounting policies.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain documentation required for audits, tax filings, and internal reviews.
ERP Go-Live Readiness and Process Development
- Support ERP go-live readiness for accounts payable, including process validation, documentation, and operational handover.
- Contribute to defining, documenting, and refining accounting workflows, procedures, and internal controls before and after go-live.
- Assist with the transition from pre-go-live activities to steady-state accounting operations by identifying gaps and proposing practical improvements.
- Collaborate with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure consistent and compliant accounting execution.
Cross-Functional Accounting Support
- Provide operational accounting support across General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, or Inventory functions as needed, particularly during the go-live and early stabilization period.
- Support ad hoc accounting projects and initiatives in a small, collaborative team environment.
Required Qualifications for Position
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 or more years of hands-on accounting experience, including full-cycle accounts payable.
- Experience working with ERP systems, with Oracle strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and or IFRS.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications for Position
- Experience supporting ERP go-live, process readiness, or early-stage operational environments.
- Practical experience using Oracle ERP, with AP required and exposure to GL, AR, or Inventory a plus.
