Bluepoint Games is seeking a best-in-class LEAD TECHNICAL ARTIST to join our team. Tackle the most complex asset challenges, developing a world-class workflow to unleash the potential of our art team on AAA titles.

Please note: This is not an entry-level or mid-level position. Sufficient professional experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of Technical Artists

  • Inspire, mentor, and support the Tech Art team

  • Meet with Technical Artists regularly to share information and updates, enforce standards, set benchmarks, and give feedback

  • Manage and develop robust and efficient workflows for the Art and Design teams

  • Research and help develop new technologies 

  • Create new techniques and procedures to improve game asset quality

  • Help improve and refine shader, texture, and lighting quality

  • Identify and fix pipeline issues

  • Analyze and improve art asset inefficiencies to optimize console performance 

  • Write documentation about art tools and workflows

  • Act as a liaison between the Engineering and the Art departments

  • Assist with solving daily production challenges

  • Work with the Production department to define a schedule and assign tasks

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in the games industry with at least one shipped title as a Lead Technical Artist

  • Must have prior experience leading a team of Technical Artists

  • Complete understanding of current-generation game workflows and pipelines

  • An overall understanding of all Art related disciplines including environment, character, VFX, UX, lighting, shading, and rendering

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Experience working with multiple game engines

  • Interest in learning a custom proprietary game engine

  • Have the ability to learn and then teach newly acquired knowledge

  • Expert knowledge of Maya

  • Maya scripting experience in Python

  • Working knowledge of Houdini

The ideal candidate may also have:

  • Expert knowledge of Houdini

  • Experience with Substance Painter and Designer

  • Shader authoring skills (HLSL, GLSL, CGFX) knowledge

  • Knowledge of C++, C#, Javascript, or other programming languages

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$138,200 - $207,200 USD
