Manager, Corporate Planning, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement     

San Mateo, CA / Hybrid 

The Manager, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement serves as a key leader within the Corporate Planning Vendor Management team. This person will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Indirect Sourcing and Procurement team, driving strategic initiatives to secure the highest quality services and products at the most competitive costs. This role demands strong leadership, project management, and communication skills, both oral and written. The Manager will directly lead a team of sourcing and procurement professionals. The members of this team are responsible for managing global sourcing and procurement tools and processes; Overseeing multiple concurrent projects; And Addressing ad-hoc sourcing and procurement inquiries.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing:
    • Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with company objectives.
    • Identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and make recommendations for selection.
    • Develop and execute key strategic sourcing projects; Lead traditional strategic sourcing functions, such as presentation development, data analysis, baseline creation, financial modeling, RFP development, bid management, negotiations, offer analysis, and scenario planning.
    • Engage in post-bid management activities, including spend analysis and vendor relationship management
  • Sourcing and Procurement Tool Process Management:
    • Oversee the end-to-end sourcing tools and processes, including spend analytics, e-sourcing, category management, supplier segmentation, 3rd party risk management, and catalog management processes.
    • Oversee the end-to-end procurement tools and processes, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, gross receipt, and invoice processes.
    • Ensure that sourcing and procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
    • Implement and manage Source-to-Pay (S2P) solutions and tools for efficiency and transparency.
  • Cost Management:
    • Analyze market trends and conditions to anticipate shifts in pricing and availability.
    • Develop cost-saving initiatives and strategies to reduce overall procurement costs.
    • Track and report on procurement-related cost metrics and KPIs.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, and ethical standards in all sourcing activities.
    • Collaborate with legal teams to review and manage contracts and agreements.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage and mentor a team of sourcing and procurement professionals.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional development.
    • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with all departments to ensure alignment of sourcing and procurement activities with overall business goals.
    • Participate in cross-functional teams to drive sourcing and procurement-related projects.

Qualifications: 

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate vertically and cross-functionally
  • Proven negotiation and communication abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative working style
  • Successful track record of operational responsibility in areas of Sourcing and Procurement management
  • Strong understanding of general Sourcing and Procurement principles, contract management, risk management, and cost analysis, and new technologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Relevant management work experience preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience of technology-related experience
  • Understanding of and experience with collaboration technologies
  • Four year degree from an accredited university is preferred

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$147,900 - $221,900 USD
