Site Reliability Engineer Intern - Undergraduate

San Diego, CA: this position can be performed fully remote, hybrid, or fully in person out of the SIE-PlayStation San Diego office. 

About the Team: 

As a member of the Commerce Reliability Engineering team, you will carry the responsibility of keeping our monetization platform highly available and resilient, while continually enabling our service teams to deliver new and exciting product and technical features. Our team strives to iteratively learn, improve and automate our processes every single day, which continually improves operational excellence within our organization. You will be empowered to be a technical leader on our team, helping identify and proactivity drive improvements in both.

What You’ll Be Doing: 

As a member of the CRE Team, you'll be responsible for the following:

  • Support the ongoing operations and reliability of PlayStation's monetization platform in an Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment
  • Execute application deployments to enable the delivery of awesome PlayStation experiences to our customers
  • Develop informative dashboards for our services that provide valuable insight, and develop meaningful alerting patterns to drive down recovery times for platform incidents
  • Iteratively lead performance and capacity validation analysis for our commerce platform services
  • Collaborate and partner with other SRE teams that specialize in areas such as EKS, CICD, data services, and platform hosting to inspire changes and ensure optimal application performance and resiliency

What We’re Looking For:

  • Great communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Desire & passion for learning technology
  • Enjoys a fast paced, collaborative environment
  • Adept documentation skills
  • Basic understanding of AWS and popular managed services (Ec2, ALB, r53, lambda, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Java services running on an application server (ie: Tomcat)
  • Familiarity with source code management tools (GitHub preferred)
  • Familiar utilizing s continuous integration and continuous delivery (CICD) deployment pattern
  • Familiar with application monitoring tools (preference: DataDog, CloudWatch, Splunk)
  • Basic software development experience (Java, Python, Go)

Eligibility:

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.
  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
  • Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.
  • Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. 

 

Intern Pay Range

$41.50 - $45.75 USD
