Director, Finance Planning and Analysis

Location: Global - Remote

 

Studio Business Group Finance team is looking for Director, Financial Planning & Analysis for our newly formed Publishing team under the Sony Interactive Entertainment Studio Business Group (SBG). SBG is responsible for all 1st Party marketing, working closely with other SBG and SIE teams to maximize commercial outcomes. Director, FP&A - Publishing is a new role that will be a business partner role to Head of Publishing and support the team. The role will be a member of SBG Publishing Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the FP&A processes for the department. This position is responsible for providing financial planning and budgeting, financial governance and controls and financials insights, analysis, and implementation of strategic guidance to optimize marketing investments. The ideal candidate will combine strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of marketing dynamics as well as having a strong FP&A experience.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • FP&A Processes design and implementation in the newly formed publishing department.
  • Business Partnering: Be a strategic thought partner to Head of Publishing and team supporting the setup of the organization and driving maturation of processes; providing thought leadership in the newly formed department.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process for the marketing department, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
  • Business Performance: Lead performance management processes in Publishing team (quarterly business reviews, annual budget, mid-range planning etc)
  • Value Optimization: Collaborate with Commercial and Value Optimization team ensuring marketing investment is optimized and effectiveness of marketing initiatives is assessed.
  • Governance and Controls: Implement and monitors governance and control framework around the processes in Publishing team
  • Cost Management: Analyze marketing expenditures and implement cost control measures to enhance profitability.
  • Collaboration and Influencing: Effectively collaborate with SBG and non-SBG partners ensuring appropriate flow of information, process implementation; effectively influence stakeholders across multiple disciples from leadership team members to various functional teams
  • Reporting: Prepare and present financial information and insights to SBG management and other stakeholders, highlighting trends, variances, and actionable recommendations.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and lead a team of financial analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in business, strategy, finance, economics or related field; MBA and/or CFA designation preferred
  • 12+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with a focus on marketing or related industries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Resilience under pressure including from senior stakeholders
  • Self-starter, showing initiative and ability to work independently
  • Strong communication and presentation skills;
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and strategies.
  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience in gaming industry and/or is an advantage but not a must;
  • Strong work ethic and confidentiality a must

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$185,900 - $278,900 USD
