About the team

The Competitive Analysis & Insights function at Sony Interactive Entertainment is part of the wider Data Science, Analytics and Enablement (DSAE) department within SIE’s Platform & Data Strategy (PDS) division. PDS creates extraordinary experiences around play that inspire millions of people to interact with our products and services. We support global PDS and SIE business teams by developing detailed and actionable competitive analyses providing essential context to inform decision making.

About the role

The Senior Analyst is responsible for driving and completing competitive analysis projects. They need to be self-motivated and independent, capable of managing multiple projects from start to finish, working with varied sets of business partners. Their role is crucial in enhancing our analytical capabilities, output, and influence to inform the successful development, market launch, and operation of SIE products.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Crafting and delivering impactful, actionable competitive market analyses and insights using all relevant sources and employing qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Contributing to and developing our competitive analysis methodology as this function evolves within SIE.
  • Managing analysis projects end-to-end, from initial briefing through to final delivery, follow-up, and impact assessment.
  • Serving as the point of contact and representative for our team within the broader organisation.
  • Managing and developing intelligence assets, including sourcing, processing, providing access, and distributing information.

What we are looking for

  • You're a highly capable market analyst with strongly developed skills in competitive and market analysis and relevant experience in the gaming industry
  • You’re passionate about the gaming sector and knowledgeable about the PC and Mobile categories, and the latest advancements in technology relevant to gaming.
  • You're a self-starter who can handle high-level project briefs with varying ambiguity and develop, manage and deliver multiple analysis projects in parallel.
  • You're an excellent communicator, crafting compelling narratives and effectively interacting with and influencing diverse stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
  • You excel in quantitative and qualitative analysis and pragmatically adapt your approach to anticipate, interpret and meet client needs.
  • You take ownership of project success, leading with passion and investment, and are proactive and hands-on when required.
  • You value and contribute to a diverse team and foster a culture of transparency, curiosity, constructive problem-solving, relationship building and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Experience as a senior analyst in the games industry with a strong understanding of the gaming business and its main actors.
  • Proven track record of success in delivering impactful competitive analyses.
  • Excellent storytelling and presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in primary and secondary source research, data management and manipulation using relevant tools.
  • Strong project management skills to dependably deliver end-to-end projects.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience within a product-related function.
  • Experience engaging with Senior Executives and diverse stakeholder sets.
  • Experience working with market insight and consultancy firms.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Japanese would be highly advantageous, though not required.
