About the Role

PlayStation is seeking a Mid-level Server Software Engineer (data) to help deliver world-class, personalised experiences for our users on web, mobile, PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Maintain Reporting Pipeline: Work on impression/click stream processing, near real-time stream services, Databricks notebooks, Spark, and Flink.
  • New Reporting Solutions: Collaborate with product and business teams to implement reporting solutions tailored to their needs.
  • Code Refactoring and Maintenance: Engage in continuous code refactoring activities to improve the quality and performance of our services.
  • Unit Testing: Apply your extensive expertise in unit testing frameworks to guarantee comprehensive test coverage and employ CICD tools to identify and fill any gaps in coverage.
  • Monitoring and Health Metrics: Supervise the health metrics of our services, adding new monitoring capabilities to ensure performance and stability.
  • On-Call Rotation: Participate in on-call rotations to maintain the stability and normal operations of the entire services stack.
  • Collaborative Development: Work closely with a team of engineers, actively participating in scrum/agile ceremonies to ensure seamless collaboration and project success.
  • Ensure Performance and Scalability of Services meet business requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or at least 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • 3-5 years professional software development experience
  • Strong Skills in Java or Kotlin: Demonstrated expertise in these programming languages, following standard methodologies.
  • Experience with processing data using Flink, Spark, or similar
  • Object-Oriented Programming: Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and design patterns, with proven ability to apply them effectively.
  • Algorithm Knowledge: Solid understanding of sophisticated algorithms and their application in real-time service configurations.
  • Component and Unit Testing Frameworks: Extensive experience with component and unit testing frameworks and CICD tools to ensure quality and coverage.
  • Performance Monitoring: Ability to monitor and optimize the performance of microservices, adding new capabilities as needed.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience with scrum/agile methodologies, actively participating in ceremonies to drive project success.
  • Experience using source control tools like git and svn.
