About the Role

Join the PlayStation Client Developer Experience Team as a Staff Software Engineer and play a pivotal role in shaping the tools and frameworks that empower our client-side developers. Lead the creation of innovative, cloud-based solutions—such as performance profilers, UI inspection tools, target control systems, and developer setup assistants that streamline workflows and dramatically reduce onboarding time.

Your influence will extend beyond tooling as you help define the future of PlayStation's client frameworks. Tackle complex challenges at scale, blending your expertise in client-side development with backend cloud technologies to drive groundbreaking solutions. Collaborate with a talented and supportive team to advance PlayStation's Developer Experience and contribute to the evolution of our core client frameworks.

What You’ll Do
  • Architect, build, and maintain complex frontend systems using React, React Native, and TypeScript that enhance developer workflows and scale across teams and platforms.
  • Deliver cloud-based internal tools that dramatically reduce onboarding and debugging time.
  • Influence the architecture and performance of client applications and internal frameworks, setting the direction for frontend development across PlayStation.
  • Partner closely with design, platform, backend, and QA teams to ensure seamless end-to-end experiences.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of frontend excellence, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct in-depth code reviews, raising the bar for quality, consistency, and maintainability.
  • Lead performance profiling and optimization efforts to keep apps and tools fast and responsive.
  • Solve hard technical problems with creativity, systems thinking, and a user-centric mindset.
  • Keep up with the latest trends in frontend development, applying relevant innovations to push our tooling and developer experience forward.
What We’re Looking For
  • 10+ years of experience in professional software development, with a strong focus on frontend architecture and tooling.
  • Mastery of JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and React Native, with a portfolio of shipped web or cross-platform apps.
  • Deep understanding of modern frontend build systems, testing practices, performance optimization, and state management.
  • Proven track record of technical leadership, guiding architecture decisions and driving frontend strategy at scale.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a passion for cross-functional teamwork.
  • A strong sense of ownership and craftsmanship in developer-facing tools and experiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and building frontend tools that integrate with cloud-based services.
  • Familiarity with monorepos, internal platform development, or Developer experience tooling

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$209,900 - $314,900 USD
