Staff Linux Network Software Engineer 

Adelaide, South Australia

As a Staff Linux Network Software Engineer on the Network team, you will lead the design and development of advanced software-defined network load balancing and DDoS prevention systems, critical to the operation of our global-scale infrastructure.

In this newly created, high-impact role, you will drive the development of specialized capabilities that shape the future of our global content distribution network for games. Partnering with network architecture, engineering and platform teams, you'll design and deliver high-quality services that ensure robust protection, unparalleled availability, and optimal performance for games distributed worldwide, including offerings for partner studios.

This position sits at the cutting edge of networking and software engineering, focusing on innovative solutions that enhance how games are delivered and experienced globally. While not directly involved in game engine development, your work will underpin the seamless operation of game-related services, bridging the gap between infrastructure and gameplay with expertise and precision.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant development experience 

Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding and prior work with Linux Kernel networking
  • Strong understanding of kubernetes network primitives
  • Proven experience working with eBPF and related topics
  • Expert level understanding of TCP/IP
  • Expert level understanding of network overlay and tunneling mechanisms
  • Expert level understanding of Kubernetes & Kubernetes Networking
  • Experience with Internet routing concepts
  • Proven experience with C, Rust and Golang
  • Previous experience with CDN and content delivery advantageous
  • Experience with identifying & troubleshooting network performance issues on both Linux and network devices
  • Previous experience with game networking advantageous
  • Previous experience with handling large network scaling and DDoS mitigation advantageous
  • Previous experience with load balancing technologies
