Role overview:

Sr. Director, Business and Strategic Operations is a highly strategic and impactful role designed for a proactive, resourceful, and experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can help drive the business strategy, ensure alignment across teams, and enable executive decision-making. This role will also serve as the Chief of Staff to the CEO, Studio Business Group for Sony Interactive Entertainment, and will act as a trusted advisor and strategist, providing thought partnership to the CEO while driving the execution of high-priority initiatives that align with the organization’s vision and goals.

What you’ll be doing:

Strategy Development & Execution

  • Develop Business Strategy: Work closely with the CEO, Studio Business Group and senior leadership team to define the business unit’s long-term vision, competitive positioning, and strategic direction.
  • Market & Competitive Analysis: Conduct research and analysis on industry trends, competitive landscape, and internal business performance to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Define Strategic Objectives: Translate the CEO’s vision into clear, measurable objectives that guide the organization’s growth and success.
  • Drive Strategy Implementation: Oversee the operationalization of the division’s strategy, ensuring teams are aligned, resources are allocated effectively, and execution remains on track.
  • Monitor Progress & Adjust Strategy: Establish KPIs and review business performance against strategic goals, making recommendations for adjustments as needed.

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Partner with the CEO to define and prioritize strategic initiatives, ensuring they align with broader business objectives
  • Develop frameworks, conduct market analysis, and provide insights to inform the organization’s strategy and long-term vision.
  • Monitor the execution of strategic priorities, ensuring progress is tracked and communicated effectively across stakeholders.

Operational Alignment

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align divisional goals with the overarching business strategy.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure consistency and coherence in execution across teams.
  • Identify potential operational bottlenecks or inefficiencies and recommend solutions to optimize execution.

Executive Decision Support

  • Provide the CEO with well-researched insights, data analysis, and recommendations to support critical decision-making.
  • Prepare presentations, board materials, speaker notes and other materials for the CEO and ensure the CEO is prepared for all internal and external meetings.
  • Act as a sounding board to the CEO, offering critical thinking and constructive feedback on key issues.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage high-impact, cross-functional projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
  • Identify potential risks and roadblocks, devising mitigation strategies to keep initiatives on track.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a representative of the CEO in meetings, ensuring clear communication and follow-up on critical action items.
  • Build strong relationships across all levels of the organization to maintain alignment and support for strategic initiatives.
  • Represent the CEO’s perspective and priorities in interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred
  • 12+ years of experience in strategy consulting, business operations, or a similar role supporting executive leadership.
  • Proven experience in driving strategic initiatives and managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize data and develop actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing high-quality presentations and reports.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • High emotional intelligence, diplomacy, and the ability to build trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$252,000 - $315,000 USD
