Software Development Engineer in Test II - Contract

We’re seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test II - Full Stack (SDET) to help expand our testing capabilities and ensure the best possible experience for our subscribers across the PlayStation ecosystem.

In this role, you’ll work closely with Quality Engineering, Development, Product, and Design teams in a cross-functional environment to ensure the quality of our multi-platform applications and subscription services. You’ll contribute to test automation, maintain the overall quality of critical applications used by our partners, and actively participate in identifying, investigating, and resolving defects.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software development and testing principles, experience with applications that include complex business logic, and a passion for delivering high-quality software.

Responsibilities

  • Design and establish test frameworks; support teams in building and maintaining automation infrastructure
     

  • Define and implement best practices for automation, continuous integration and delivery, end-to-end testing (including device and performance testing)
     

  • Collaborate with globally distributed teams to drive early engagement and ensure continuous delivery of high-quality software that enhances the SIE customer experience
     

  • Partner with Product Owners and Managers to understand feature requirements, define testing strategies and estimates, and support the development of new capabilities within the QE architecture
     

  • Monitor, audit, and maintain CI/CD jobs, ensuring visibility and reporting of build and test statuses
     

  • Continuously assess and enhance QE processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness
     

  • Advocate for and expand test automation coverage across teams to encourage shared responsibility for quality
     

  • Maintain, optimize, and extend existing automation frameworks
     

  • Provide support for production deployments and assist with post-release validation
     

  • Log, track, and verify defects to ensure timely resolution and high product quality
     

 

This Role Will Require Knowledge Of

Testing – studied and practiced a variety of test techniques and methodologies, and are familiar with prominent voices in the online testing community

Test automation – passion for robust, maintainable code and knowledge of test automation to a level where the pros and cons of various automation approaches can be discussed.

Agile software development – understand the common methodologies and can articulate how a strong tester can best support their team in that context

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as an SDET or in a similar QE engineering role
     

  • Hands-on experience testing front-end and/or full-stack web applications
     

  • Solid understanding of JavaScript and/or Python
     

  • Working knowledge of Git for version control
     

  • Familiarity with API testing concepts and tools (e.g., Postman, REST-assured, or similar)
     

  • Strong grasp of modern software engineering practices, including web technologies, continuous integration, and test automation
     

  • Eagerness to explore and adopt new testing methodologies and technologies
     

  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
     

  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and solving issues
     

  • Strong communication and documentation skills
     

  • Experience with end-to-end testing in complex systems
