Senior Technical Accounting Manager
San Mateo, CA (Hybrid)
The Senior Technical Accounting Manager role is an individual contributor leadership role that will lead and drive technical accounting initiatives to ensure continued compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. The role will report to the Director, Technical Accounting, Finance Governance and Compliance.
The role's responsibilities would include the following:

Accounting policy alignment, documentation and maintenance

Accounting treatment assessment and memorandum documentation & review

New accounting standards adoption including ESG
-
Coordination of "deals desk" to capture all unusual significant contracts subject to accounting treatment assessment

Support M&A activity from technical accounting assessment perspective including review of contract drafts

Establishment of cross functional business team relationships to understand relevant factual details relevant to accounting assessment matters

Working closely with local and group external auditors as part of accounting treatment assessment memorandum reviews

Review and assessment of assumptions used as part of estimations

Serve as main accounting contact related to legal matters

Support FP&A and planning teams in determining forecast / budget impact from accounting treatment perspective

Execution of SOX controls relevant to Technical Accounting activities

Address ad-hoc accounting treatment questions from accounting, business planners and forecasting teams

Establishment of training curriculum for accounting teams and establishment of knowledge base
The following qualifications, experience and personal attributes are required:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related field.

Active CPA or equivalent license
-
Manager level public accounting experience
-
8 - 12 years of progressive experience in Technical Accounting either with Big 4 technical accounting advisory or in practice

Extensive experience in interpreting IFRS and USGAAP (and or UKGAAP) accounting standards and applying it to unique real-world business fact patterns

Previous experience with retail, SaaS, software, entertainment and or technology companies

ESG regulatory framework experience

Experience with managing and driving projects working with cross functional teams

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Highly motivated, self-driven, pro-active and pragmatic

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$163,300 - $244,900 USD
