About the Role

PlayStation’s R&D teams are at the heart of exploring what’s next in games and play. We’re looking for a Senior Manager of Technical Project Management (TPM) to lead and develop our TPM team as they support bold, high-impact innovation initiatives such as intelligent agents, expressive virtual characters, deep scene understanding, and cloud-connected gameplay technologies.

Reporting to the Director of R&D Operations, this is a people-centric and strategic leadership role. You’ll line-manage a distributed team of seven TPMs (5 in the UK, 2 in the US). The team leads a mix of projects and programs across varied domains. Your focus will be to guide the team’s growth, ensure optimal resourcing across dynamic efforts, and drive delivery excellence.

While this role is primarily a leadership and coaching position, you may also directly handle one or two smaller projects as needed.

In this role, you’ll play a part in cultivating an atmosphere that encourages experimentation, and facilitates the uncovering and provision of groundbreaking experiences for creators and players.

Team Leadership & Coaching

  • Line-manage a globally distributed TPM team with diverse levels of experience—from mid-level to senior and staff.
  • Provide tailored mentorship, career support, and performance development for each team member.
  • Cultivate a high-trust, inclusive team culture focused on growth and autonomy.

Resource Allocation & Delivery Enablement

  • Be responsible for TPM resourcing across a portfolio of complex R&D initiatives, ensuring optimal fit and utilization.
  • Support TPMs in delivering on technically ambitious projects involving AI/ML research, hardware-software integration, and cross-functional collaboration.

Subject area & Practice Development

  • Develop and improve TPM delivery practices and tools that align with our dynamic environment.
  • Collaborate with the Director of R&D Operations to evolve the TPM function and mitigate delivery risks.

Community Building & Knowledge Sharing

  • Develop a community of practice across the TPM team—encouraging peer learning, shared problem-solving, and relationship-building across research, engineering and product functions.
  • Promote grassroots improvement and continuous reflection on ways of working.

About You

  • Experienced in running technical project or program managers within R&D, engineering, or emerging technology contexts.
  • Comfortable coaching and supporting team members at varying stages of seniority.
  • Substantial experience of project or program management in an individual contributor role, with relevant qualifications or certifications
  • Deep understanding of software/hardware delivery, especially with AI/ML or other fast-moving technologies.
  • Skilled in collaborator engagement, resource planning, and driving execution in ambiguous or exploratory settings.
  • Passionate about people development, team culture, and enabling excellence at scale.
  • Able to operate in a global environment, navigating the challenges of working with diverse, global teams spread across different time zones
  • Highly organized and dependable, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Why Join Us?

  • Help shape the future of interactive entertainment through hands-on leadership in technical project delivery.
  • Work alongside elite engineers, researchers, and designers as part of a team committed to innovation, creativity, and impact.
  • Contribute to an environment that adopts curiosity, rapid exploration, and play without limits.
