Senior Risk Analyst
Location: San Diego, CA or San Mateo, CA

Reports to: Manager, Fraud Operations & Analytics
Role Overview
Our Fraud & Risk Strategy team plays a critical role in protecting the PlayStation ecosystem and ensuring a safe, seamless experience for millions of users worldwide. As a Senior Risk Analyst on the Fraud, Risk, & Identity team, you will lead the development and execution of data-driven strategies to detect, prevent, and mitigate fraud across the PlayStation Network. You’ll work cross-functionally with data scientists, ML engineers, fraud strategists, and customer service teams to identify fraud patterns, optimize detection systems, and drive strategic initiatives that balance risk reduction with user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead advanced analytical investigations into fraud trends across digital and physical goods, payments, and entitlements.
- Advanced SQL Analytics: Leverage advanced SQL skills to independently explore large, complex datasets, validate hypotheses, and build scalable queries and pipelines that support fraud detection, alerting, and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate insights into actionable policies, rules, and product improvements.
- Partner with Customer Service and Compliance teams to support agent tooling, customer protection, and regulatory alignment.
- Build and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and alerting systems to monitor fraud activity and operational performance.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in fraud analytics, risk strategy, or a related quantitative field.
- Expert-level SQL proficiency, with a proven track record of independently writing complex queries to investigate large-scale datasets, uncover behavioral patterns, and support data-driven decision-making in high-risk environments.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Domo, Splunk).
- Deep understanding of fraud typologies, risk scoring, and the fraud lifecycle in eCommerce or digital platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with big data platforms (e.g., Snowflake), rule engines, and experimentation frameworks.
- Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in the video game or digital entertainment industry.
- Familiarity with tools like JIRA, Confluence, FICO, and Snowflake.
- Knowledge of Japanese or other global market nuances is a plus.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$118,100 - $177,100 USD
