Data Center Capacity Planner

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Capacity Planner to join the Global Developer Future Technology Group (GDFT), the organisation responsible for building and operating the data center infrastructure that underpins PlayStation’s Cloud Gaming, Broadcast, and Developer Platform services worldwide. Our data center host critical workloads ranging from real-time game streaming to content distribution, developer build systems, and testing environments.

The Capacity Planner will play a key role in ensuring these services have the resources they need to scale, while maximising the efficiency of our global data center portfolio. Acting as the primary interface for capacity requests from internal teams, the role balances near-term allocations with the operational realities of power, space, and cooling constraints across the estate.

Responsibilities:

  • Capacity Request Management – Serve as the intake point for capacity requests from internal and external teams. Evaluate feasibility, assess impact, and recommend allocation.
  • Resource Allocation – Translate approved requests into space, power, and cooling allocations across the global portfolio, coordinating with technical infrastructure teams and site operations.
  • Forecasting – Build and maintain short- to mid-term capacity forecasts, incorporating demand signals from multiple services and stakeholders.
  • Utilisation Tracking – Monitor and report on utilisation of capacity. Identify saturation risks, stranded capacity, and underutilisation.
  • Decision Support – Provide insights to Portfolio Management on capacity bottlenecks, optimisation opportunities, and where to prioritise expansion.
  • Tooling & Reporting – Maintain dashboards and models that track requests, allocations, and utilisation for leadership visibility.
  • Collaboration – Partner closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure near-term capacity actions align with long-term portfolio strategy.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in capacity planning, data center operations, or infrastructure resource management.
  • Technical c
  • Experience with intake workflows and request/approval processes.
  • Strong analytical skills for demand modelling, feasibility analysis, and utilisation forecasting.
  • Superb communication skills, able to translate technical capacity details into clear guidance for diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple parallel requests.
