Strategy Manager
San Mateo, CA (hybrid)

The GMSBO Strategy Manager plays a central role in shaping and advancing the strategic priorities of PlayStation’s Global Marketing, Sales, and Business Operations organization. As a core member of the GMSBO Strategy team, this role partners closely with leaders across PlayStation to clarify priorities, structure complex challenges, and connect long-term strategic ambition to near-term action.

In this role, you will lead strategic initiatives that influence how PlayStation allocates focus, resources, and investment. Success requires a combination of structured, analytical thinking and creative problem solving, along with strong storytelling skills and a disciplined, collaborative approach. The ideal candidate is proactive in identifying opportunities, rigorous in analysis, and effective at shaping direction through influence rather than authority.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead defined strategic projects end-to-end, from framing the question to delivering actionable recommendations and implementation pathways.
  • Partner with GMSBO leaders to clarify priorities, surface trade-offs, and support decisions that connect to PlayStation’s broader business goals.
  • Develop frameworks and insights that simplify complex issues and provide clarity to senior stakeholders.
  • Balance creative problem solving with analytical rigor to ensure recommendations are both ambitious and grounded.

Analysis & Foresight

  • Synthesize data, market intelligence, and player insights into clear narratives that inform decision-making.
  • Connect emerging market, player, and technology signals to PlayStation’s long-term growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to ongoing foresight efforts by monitoring relevant trends and articulating their implications for GMSBO.

Communication & Influence

  • Build and deliver presentations that engage executive audiences and support decision-making.
  • Translate complex ideas into clear, structured storylines that drive alignment and action.
  • Represent the Strategy team with professionalism and consistency across internal forums and leadership discussions.

Collaboration & Team Stewardship

  • Model the behaviors, systems, and practices that define how the Strategy team operates.
  • Actively participate in team planning, retrospectives, and operations.
  • Lead or co-lead internal initiatives that strengthen the Strategy team’s effectiveness, such as improving planning processes, refining templates, or enhancing knowledge sharing.

Execution & Quality

  • Deliver consistently high-quality work with a high degree of independence.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in prioritization, trade-offs, and timing.
  • Operate with reliability and transparency, keeping stakeholders and leadership informed and projects on track.

Qualifications

Required

  • At least 8 years of experience in strategy, management consulting, or a related strategic planning field.
  • Proven success leading strategic projects from scoping through execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous problems into actionable paths.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working across functions and regions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Preferred

  • Experience within the gaming, technology, or entertainment industries.
  • Familiarity with gaming industry databases and analytics tools.
  • Ability to access and interpret platform or player telemetry data using tools such as SQL, Snowflake, Databricks, or internal analytics dashboards.
  • Understanding video game business models, subscription services, and digital retail ecosystems.
  • Advanced financial modeling or business case development experience.
  • Interest in video games and curiosity about industry trends and consumer behavior.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate analysis and insights clearly and concisely to senior decision-makers, including when delivering complex or challenging messages.
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills, with experience producing clear, compelling, and well-structured written and visual materials.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$162,700 - $244,100 USD
