Job Purpose

The Technical Program Governance team manages PlayStation’s largest programs and groundbreaking initiatives for engineering organizations. These efforts serve as the foundation for aligning around a core technology strategy and developing a culture of speed, collaboration, and innovation.

As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will drive delivery of critical work that powers seamless global experiences for players, partners, and the company. This role requires advanced expertise in orchestrating cross-functional execution, engaging senior executives, and ensuring that technical solutions deliver measurable impact.

This is a role for a leader who thrives in high-ambiguity, high-impact environments, bridging technical perspectives to ensure initiatives deliver both execution and adoption success.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Extensive experience leading large-scale, multi-year technical initiatives with deep complexity across systems, orgs, and geographies.
  • Proven track record driving complete transformation, ensuring adoption, behavioral change, and operational integration are embedded in delivery plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives, unify conflicting viewpoints, and steer ambiguous, high-impact efforts.
  • Provide strong technical insight across platforms, systems, and architecture, with the ability to challenge assumptions and guide engineering toward scalable, strategic solutions.
  • Expert in governance, cross-team decision-making, and executive-level communication that clarifies risk, tradeoffs, and strategic value.

Desirable

  • Background in the games industry.
  • Experience crafting program management approaches that incorporate change management and adoption strategies.
  • Experience with PPM software, OnePlan ideal.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Program Leadership

  • Lead delivery of PlayStation’s most complex, multi-year engineering initiatives, ensuring they achieve both execution success and full organizational adoption.
  • Serve as an integrator across programs—understanding architecture, dependencies, and system interactions to guide decisions and reduce risk.
  • Partner with technical leads and architects to ensure engineering decisions support scalability, initiative health, and strategic outcomes.
  • Build and maintain dashboards that connect program execution data to executive insight.
  • Define and promote reusable patterns, operating models, and frameworks that improve technical program delivery across engineering.

Strategy and Decision Support

  • Collaborate with the Director of Technical Program Governance to establish the strategic direction for technical program management approaches and frameworks.
  • Analyze program data to identify gaps, risk, and opportunities; leading and driving toward balanced solutions and mitigations.
  • Craft executive-level narratives that clearly articulate engineering progress, risk, and business impact in decision-ready formats.
  • Influence prioritization and funding decisions using insight and data-backed rationale.

Adoption and Impact

  • Partner with change management leaders to make certain each key initiative features comprehensive readiness, training, enablement, and adoption strategies.
  • Identify organizational friction points early and drive mitigation plans that ensure initiatives land efficiently and sustainably.
  • Ensure technical delivery incorporates clear routes to operationalization, behavioral change, and sustained value realization.
  • Advocate for user-centric adoption outcomes as equal in importance to technical completion.

  • Acknowledgment of technical program management methods as drivers of innovation and speed.
  • Positive executive engagement and satisfaction with delivery quality.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$236,300 - $354,500 USD
