Artists and Repertoire Manager

Responsible for all music and artist-scouting activities of SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT INDONESIA– across different genres (with focus on the organization’s objectives) and build a strong repertoire.

 

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for the development and selection of appropriate music repertoire and/or genre for SONY MUSIC’s artists (whether current or prospective), considering the artists’ talents, images, voice quality, pitches, appearances, characters and personalities, etc.
  • Responsible for / provide advice on grooming, development and training of SONY MUSIC’s artists (whether they are new or existing) in terms of, including but not limited to, music production, music play-back techniques, mixing and remixing, vocal techniques, singing techniques, live performances, image, styling, looks, and personality enhancement, etc.
  • Liaising with (actual and prospective) publishers for the development of SONY MUSIC’s music repertoire and SONY MUSIC’s artists.
  • To act as the voice of the artist with the Label and the Company, creating excitement for the coming release and ensuring that the artist & record story is told, understood and bought into by the wider organization.
  • Provide reports and updates on the progress of A&R works with SONY MUSIC; and meet with SONY MUSIC’s management/executives regularly, hence liaising, “brainstorming” and meeting with SONY MUSIC’s teams from time to time relating to how/where SONY MUSIC’s A&R’s strategies are positioned.
  • To be able to recognize an artist which will be successful within the music market over the 
    next 2-3 years and be able to build a vision strategy and conceptual Artists DNA for the next 2-3 years.
  • To work collaboratively with marketing and promo colleagues to identify the key single tracks from the record and build plans to launch the singles which will engage first with the fanatics moving up the cone toward mass market penetration as each single releases.

     

Who you are:

  • Technical / Functional:
    •    Thorough understanding of music and the contemporary music scene
    •    Hands-on knowledge of how songs/albums are recorded and produced.
    •    Have a good understanding of a variety of music genres.
    •    Experiential understanding of commercial success for music | knowledge of consumer taste
    •    Tech-savvy to leverage various sources for artist & music scouting.
    •    Decent skills in transforming ideas & concepts into presentation deck. 

     

  • Behavioral:
    •    Excellent Interpersonal skills – relationship building with artists/producers/music managers etc.
    •    Strong negotiation skills
    •    High on Emotional Quotient in order to support the artist/music through the lifecycle.
    •    Outgoing, must be interested in going to gigs, performances, interacting with consumers of music as well as people who are part of music industry in any way.
    •    Should have a good ear for music and be able to tap potential or provide advice on fine-tuning aspects.
    •    Outgoing, friendly and persuasive.
