
Cash Application Analyst (2 Year Contract)

The Global Finance Shared Service Center supports the core business with finance related matters, covering a wide scope of activities across the globe. We ensure suppliers and artists are paid on time for the amazing work they create. We work closely with the local finance teams around the world which means we have an excellent understanding of how the company operates and are kept up to date with key developments in this exciting and fast paced industry. Our teams play a key role in ensuring Sony Music achieve their annual goals each year.
The Cash Application Analyst, on a temporary 2-year contract, will be responsible for ensuring that cash received by affiliates (as reported in the open items of the incoming clearing accounts) is promptly applied against the documents for each customer based on the Daily Cash Process. He or she will coordinate and approve the issuance of periodic affiliate account receivable reports and the calculation of bad debt provisions, when applicable. In addition, the analyst will be responsible for the reconciliation of the assigned accounts and the closure of all delivery tasks in the Cadency, our tasks and recs control tool
What you'll do:
Cash Application: Receive, research, and appropriately allocate cash payments received against the corresponding agreements
Accounts Receivable & Reconciliations: Reconcile and summarize various Account Receivable account balances against open deal obligations and cash received, including open Accounts Receivable aging
Bad Debt Calculations: Identify, communicate, and inaccuracies and/or discrepancies and facilitate resolution with deal administrator
Special Projects & Reporting:
- Participate in special projects as assigned
- Prepare various ad-hoc reports and provide insight to support decision making
Communication/Stakeholder management
- Build and maintain strong working relationship with internal teams, including affiliate finance teams and OTC Hub in Mexico
- Liaise effectively with external stakeholders when required
- Provide timely and professional responses to queries.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree; preferably in Finance or Accounting
- Flexible to work in different shifts supporting US & India time zone. Primarily India / APAC hours
- Work from home (hybrid – 2 days in a month from office)
- Minimum of 3 years work experience; music industry or other entertainment field preferred
- Detail oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously and manage time productively
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to analyze and review information from several different sources (corporate systems)
- Prior experience with SAP, and/ or Sales reporting would be preferred
- Capable of working independently, while also integrating into a team environment
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
