
Intern, Media Relations

Work Location: Liberty Village, Toronto
Job Type & Duration: Part-time Internship, 4 Months from January to April 2026
Compensation: Paid Internship
Work Arrangement: At least four (4) days per week in office, 9AM to 5PM, up to 37.5 hours a week
The Media Relations team is responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with media outlets and works with artists to authentically share their stories and achievements across diverse platforms. We are seeking an enthusiastic intern to join our team on a short-term basis. As a Media Relations intern, you will have the opportunity to observe and assist in the day-to-day activities of the Media Relations team.
The Role
- Compile and distribute daily media coverage reports, highlighting key stories, sentiment, and opportunities for further engagement.
- Proactively monitor, clip, and summarize press articles and media coverage related to Sony Music artists, campaigns, and industry trends.
- Upload press releases and media assets to the Sony Music Canada website and other relevant platforms, ensuring timely and accurate publication.
- Research and identify new Canadian media opportunities, including emerging outlets, digital platforms, and creators.
- Keep inter-departmental documents up to date and accurate, including earned media records, media blurbs, and Sony Music Canada’s media contact list.
- Respond promptly to requests, providing photos, biographies, press releases, and other materials as needed.
- Assist the Media Relations team with ad hoc projects, event support, and administrative tasks.
Ideal Candidate:
- Completed or currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree in Public Relations, Communications or Music Business program.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Professional attitude, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
- Knowledge of Canadian media, outlets and general understanding of Public Relations.
- Strong writing abilities with experience communicating to internal and external stakeholders.
- Passionate music lover. Music is everything.
- Proficiency in French is an asset, but not required.
