
Senior Director, Creative Services (12 month contract)
Sony Music is looking for a highly skilled and passionate Senior Director of Creative Services to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone with a deep connection to music and culture, who has a proven track record in content creation, social media, brand strategy and audience growth. You will play a pivotal role in elevating Sony Music’s creative output and growth by overseeing the creative process from ideation to execution and driving engagement and growth across all SME’s touch points. This hands-on position will involve managing and collaborating with artists and internal teams, and shaping campaigns that elevate Sony Music’s value proposition.

What you’ll do:
Creative Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead the development and execution of creative strategies for Sony Music’s roster, overseeing the creation of content across multiple media platforms, including video, photos, graphics, and short-form content.
- Manage the creative process from concept to completion, ensuring all deliverables align with the artist's brand DNA, goals, and SME’s overall messaging.
- Manage media buying and planning, ensuring effective audience targeting and optimized campaign performance across digital platforms to drive engagement and achieve marketing goals.
- Collaborate with artists, managers, and internal departments (Marketing, A&R, Radio, Masterworks etc.) to create compelling, cohesive campaigns that resonate with fans, elevate artist presence and grow our audience base for all our brands.
- Oversee creative archives, ensuring that all assets (videos, photos, artwork, photos, event content, etc.) are organised and easily accessible for internal and external use.
Content Creation & Brand Storytelling:
- Oversee the creation of high-quality content including short-form videos, social posts, artist features, graphics, and more.
- Work directly with artists to craft authentic and engaging stories that showcase their music and journey.
- Manage and oversee third-party and outsourced creative projects, ensuring consistent quality and alignment with brand messaging and artistic vision.
Audience & advertising Strategy:
- Oversee the planning and execution of media buying strategies across digital platforms to drive targeted engagement and maximise ROI.
- Work closely with data and analytics teams to understand audience insights and ensure precise targeting of campaigns that resonate with the right demographics.
- Manage and collaborate with third-party media partners and vendors, ensuring campaigns are delivered on time, within budget, and align with overall marketing objectives.
Social Media & Community Growth:
- Manage Sony Music’s owned and operated channels and presence across key platforms by creating daily content and engaging with fans.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow and engage our online communities, driving increased interaction and brand loyalty.
- Analyse social media performance and continuously optimize strategies to boost engagement, follower growth, and content impact.
- Stay on top of music and pop culture trends to ensure Sony Music’s creative output stays relevant and resonates with both emerging and established talent.
Collaboration & Cross-Department Coordination:
- Serve as the central point of contact for all creative assets, ensuring smooth communication and distribution between internal teams, external partners, and distribution platforms.
- Collaborate with all teams to align on campaign objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external creatives (photographers, videographers, designers) to execute high-quality projects and campaigns.
- Support corporate events and initiatives by providing creative direction, ensuring that they are executed seamlessly across all media.
Budget & Resource Management:
- Oversee the creative department’s budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively, and projects are completed within budget and on time.
- Coordinate resource management across teams and external partners to ensure all projects meet deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the creative, audience and buying team, ensuring that they are working collaboratively and effectively to achieve department goals.
- Guide the team through development, providing constructive feedback and supporting their professional growth.
- Foster a culture of creativity and innovation, helping the team stay inspired and passionate about their work.
Who you are:
Experience:
- At least 10 years’ experience managing creative campaigns from ideation to execution in the music or similar creative industries.
- A creative, problem solver who understands the needs of artists and delivers innovative solutions.
- Strong understanding of digital platforms, analytics tools, and social media algorithms.
- Proven experience in audience development, social media management and digital marketing, preferably within the music industry.
- Proficiency in graphic design, video editing, and content creation tools.
- Strong knowledge of and relationships with content production community.
- Thorough understanding of how the various technologies that drive music consumption work and how to use them to create content and drive audience engagement.
- Ability to plan and organize internal and external resources to deliver the agreed outcomes for a variety of projects whilst meeting budget and timeframe targets.
- Responds and adapts quickly to changes, maintaining a flexible attitude and constantly evolves thinking with new information.
- Ability to build brands through generating creative ideas and executing them through a variety of media.
