A&R Manager (m/f/x), Continental Europe & Africa

Sony Music Continental Europe and Africa works with wide range of artists including Maneskin, Damiano David, Purple Disco Machine, Lost Frequencies, Gyakie, DYSTINCT, James Arthur, Jain, Amelie Lens, Oxlade, Sam Feldt, 1Da Banton and many others. We are currently seeking an A&R Manager to join the team in Berlin.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Executive Support

  • Serve as primary liaison to both VPs of A&R, translating their strategic goals into clear action plans.
  • Consolidate scouting reports, performance data, and project updates into succinct briefs and dashboards.
  • Coordinate cross-functional meetings, meeting agendas, and reports follow-ups, and decision milestones.

2. Artist Discovery & Talent Scouting

  • Proactively scout emerging talent across the region, emphasizing artists with international growth potential.
  • Use analytics platforms and social insights to spot early-stage trends.
  • Cultivate a network of artists, managers, agents, and tastemakers to maintain a strong talent pipeline.

3. Data-Driven A&R Strategy

  • Evaluate streaming, social, and audience data to assess artist momentum and market fit.
  • Produce regular trend and opportunity reports for both VPs, highlighting high-potential acts.
  • Shape signing strategies that align regional opportunities with Sony Music’s global objectives.

4. Artist Project Management

  • Oversee artist development from concept through release, managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Partner with marketing, promotion, production, and creative teams to deliver cohesive roll-outs (albums, singles, campaigns).
  • Track key milestones, flag risks early, and ensure on-time, on-budget execution.

5. Creative-Session Coordination (Writing, Recording, and Camps)

  • Plan and schedule songwriting, toplining, and recording sessions, securing studios, writers, producers, and feature artists.
  • Draft creative briefs, circulate reference materials, and align all contributors on artistic direction and deliverables.
  • Manage session budgets, PO requests, and invoicing, collaborating with Finance and Business Affairs for timely clearances, contracts and payments.
  • Maintain detailed session calendars, call sheets, and credits; archive stems, lyrics, and session reports for future use.

6. Remix Commissioning & Feature-Artist Collaboration

  • Identify and secure remix producers/DJs that expand a track’s reach in key genres and territories.
  • Source, evaluate, and pitch potential feature artists whose fanbases and brand align with project goals.
  • Negotiate deal terms, clear rights, and manage contracts for remixes and features in coordination with Business Affairs.
  • Coordinate creative briefs, stems delivery, approvals, and release schedules; ensure all credits and metadata are accurate.

7. Collaboration & Internal Support

  • Review artist submissions, demos, and proposals alongside the VPs and the broader A&R team.
  • Provide operational oversight to keep multiple projects progressing smoothly.
  • Act as a communication bridge between artists and internal stakeholders, ensuring expectations remain aligned.

8. Industry & Market Insight

  • Stay ahead of industry shifts, emerging tech, and consumer-behavior changes.
  • Attend showcases, festivals, and conferences to deepen market knowledge and expand your network.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape, continuously refining scouting focus and strategy.

 

Your Profile

  • Strong passion for music with knowledge of repertoire and culture from the region and eager to understand the industry’s structure and business models.
  • A proactive and reliable team player, capable of handling sensitive information.
  • Highly organized, structured with attention to detail who can multi-task and remain calm under pressure.
  • Flexible and quick in adapting since priorities can frequently change.
  • Excellent administrative skills & verbal and written communication skills.
  • Engaging, sociable and solution driven personality.
  • No stranger to International time zones and considerate when dealing with multiple stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Fluent in English (German and any other language optional).
  • Open for junior and medior level experience
