The Royalties & Finance (R&F) department at Sony Music is split into two main operational areas – Central R&F, and Label R&F.

These are fantastic opportunities for individuals who are analytical, curious, and eager to understand the bigger picture behind the music.

What you'll do:

Cross-Team Collaboration & Broader Exposure

  • Work closely with both the Finance and Royalties teams, supporting key day-to-day operations and long-term projects
  • Liaise with departments such as Marketing, Legal, Sales, and Global Finance to understand how financial and contractual data flows across the business
  • Gain exposure to artist contract administration, budgeting processes, third-party reporting, and performance analysis

Central Finance Responsibilities

  • Support the consolidation and timely submission of group financial results to our parent organisation.
  • Collaborate with the Central, Label and “New Business” teams on month-end reporting, budget tracking, and forecasting activities.
  • Responsible for Group Reporting Packs delivered to CFO. These detail and summarise financial performance in the month, YTD and full year (forecast) across the business.
  • Help prepare reports and analysis for business partners, including executive stakeholders.
  • Reconcile financial data and identify anomalies in balance sheets to ensure accurate financial statements.
  • Work closely with cost center owners to manage purchase orders and ensure timely supplier payments.
  • Raise invoices and respond to finance-related queries, developing a strong understanding of end-to-end financial operations.

Central Royalty Responsibilities

  • Manage the Royalty Query Log, acting as a first point of contact for standard queries from artists, producers, and managers, while coordinating with Royalty Managers on more complex cases
  • Assist in setting up new artist, producer, and licensee contracts in our royalty system (EROS), learning how accurate contract entry ensures artists are paid correctly.
  • Support the collection and validation of banking and identity information for artist payments.
  • Track and invoice third-party royalties, monitor sales data, and process royalty VAT invoices.
  • Prepare monthly royalty statements and help with month-end balance sheet processes.
  • Generate and circulate reports such as the CARMA report, gaining insights into contract and usage tracking.

Label Finance Responsibilities

  • Support the team in preparing and submitting accurate month end label results - includes preparing and posting journals as required.
  • Create and update daily streaming reports to be sent this to senior executives.
  • Assist the marketing, production, and department cost centre owners with our purchase order system to ensure timely payments of suppliers. You’ll also train new starters on how to use this system.
  • Maintain and distribute weekly sales trackers for active/major artists.
  • Work closely with Marketing and A&R executives to conduct regular meetings and ensure forecasts are accurate and up to date.
  • Support the team in running key financial reports and analysis using various systems.
  • Raise invoices and respond to finance-related queries, developing a strong understanding of end-to-end financial operations.

  • You’re curious, analytical, and passionate about understanding how a global music company works—especially the financial and contractual mechanisms behind it all. You’re ready to work with multiple teams, ask the right questions, and take ownership of your learning journey.
  • Highly numerate and detail-oriented, with a strong interest in finance, accounting and royalties.
  • Collaborative by nature, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and financial systems.
  • Organized and methodical, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive and resourceful—you don’t wait to be told what to do.
  • Keen to understand how different departments work together to support artists and the business
