The Benefits team is part of Sony Music Entertainment’s (SME) People Experience (PX) Department, and has responsibility of developing, negotiating, and customizing the health, welfare, and retirement programs for employees of SME.
The Benefits Manager will oversee health insurance, wellness initiatives, leave policies, and other ancillary benefits as well as providing the team with support on retirement plans. This role is key in ensuring the organization remains competitive and compliant while fostering employee well-being, engagement, and retention.
What you'll do:
- Oversee day-to-day administration of all employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, wellness programs, and leave of absence policies.
- Support the development of recommendations for creative and cost-effective benefits strategies that align with organizational goals and employee needs.
- Partner with consultants to conduct regular benchmarking and analysis to ensure benefit offerings are competitive within the market and industry.
- Prepare and file required federal, state, and local reports and disclosures in accordance with regulations such as ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and other relevant legislation.
- Lead and coordinate key aspects of large-scale projects, such as benefit implementations, plan migrations, or major process enhancements, ensuring timely execution and successful outcomes.
- Regularly evaluating leave management processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement and implementing enhancements to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve the employee experience.
- Act as a liaison between employees, insurance providers, consultants/brokers, and regulatory agencies.
- Develop and deliver clear communication plans regarding benefits programs, including annual open enrollment, new hire and ongoing employee education. Prepare materials, host seminars/webinars, and respond to employee inquiries, as needed.
- Participate in the preparation of materials for the Health & Welfare Benefits Committee meetings.
- Analyze data on benefits utilization, costs, and trends. Prepare regular reports for senior leadership, highlighting areas for improvement and potential cost savings.
- Stay informed about emerging benefits trends, regulatory changes, and best practices. Recommend and implement enhancements to existing programs as needed.
- Provide back-up support to the Sr. Manager, Benefits on retirement plan programs, as needed.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required to support the effective administration and continuous improvement of employee benefits programs, adapting to evolving organizational priorities and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with global benefits projects, including providing analysis, reviewing documentation, and supporting coordination with vendors and local PX.
- Support ongoing global benefits operations, including maintaining global benefits documentation, coordinating with vendors and local PX on global benefits programs.
Who you are:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in employee benefits administration.
- Comprehensive knowledge of employee benefits, including plan design, compliance, and administration.
- Strong understanding of applicable laws and regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA).
- Proficiency in HRIS/benefits administration systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity when handling confidential information.
- Experience with vendor management and negotiation is strongly preferred.

New York Pay Range
$95,000 - $105,000 USD
