Supervising Producer
The Supervising Producer guides a dedicated team of artists while keeping to the style, vision, and creative ambitions required for the project. In this role, you will collaborate with EPs to handle all aspects of the design and cg pipeline .
Sony Pictures Animation is a pre-production animation studio based in Los Angeles, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world. Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the Executive Producer, Line Producer, Production Designer, Art Director and CG Supervisor to discuss creative ambitions and producibility for each episode
- Attends design and board handouts, board pitches, animatic reviews to hear notes and be a part of the braintrust that helps problem solve
- Reviews written materials and scripts with EP and Co-EP to help spot complexity and producibility concerns early before we launch boards.
- In a supporting role to EP’s, will fill in wherever EP needs additional support.
- Oversees art and cg pipeline of show. . Also ensures the episode remains within the parameters of the budget and schedule.
- Partner with show creative leadership to establish creative vision prior to production
- Strategize a workflow to reach artistic goals alongside the Director, Producers, and Production Designer
- Ensure that CG departments are working within schedule and budget with Studio VFX Sup
- Work internally and with partner studio(s) to ensure effective complexity management, clear communication, expectations, workflow, and technologies with the CG team
- Maintain relationship and communication with the partner studio, ensuring efficient use of resources and time throughout the CG pipeline
- Create an environment for collaboration and mentorship for the team
- Regularly attend and lead meetings with partner studio— this may require early morning or late night meetings, depending on time zone differences
- Troubleshoot workflow problems that may arise in a respectful and efficient way
- Work with the creative team to manage presentations of material to partner studios, both in-person and virtually
- Provide status updates, troubleshoot, and review potential changes on a regular basis with production staff
- Participate in the talent acquisition process as needed with the Producer to review portfolios and tests, interview candidates, and provide detailed feedback
- In partnership with the Executive Producer, review assets, keys, shots and cg development materials from partner studios and provide visual notes including paintovers and feedback as needed
- Attend post-production color grade sessions and ensure final deliverables align with creative quality bar and technical requirements
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of CG TV animation and a detailed understanding of a CG production pipeline from pre-production to post production.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of CG animation, Effects, and Compositing software
- Proven skills in asset creation, animation camera composition, animation timing and compositing required.
- Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of production crew, artistic staff and management
- Experience in leading teams with outstanding communication skills with the ability to give feedback and guide a unique group of creative staff.
- Ability to multitask and work well in a fast paced department.
- Must be willing to take direction and also take the initiative where applicable.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work independently and set appropriate priorities.
- Trustworthy and able to maintain a high level of discretion.
- Highly organized, resourceful and diligent with excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer and technology literate – familiarity with Mac/PC operating systems, Photoshop, Word, Excel and Gmail.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $4,320 to $5,500/week. This role may also qualify for incentives and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
