Layout Artist - Series
The Layout Artist interprets the storyboard and animatics of the project and translates them into a 3D environment. They will manage the layouts, helping guide them to realize the artistic vision of the Executive Producer, Layout Supervisor, and Animation Supervisor, ensuring the vision is executed.
Sony Pictures Animation is a pre-production animation studio based in Los Angeles, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world. Responsibilities:
- Work with the Executive Producer and Layout Supervisor, and Animation Supervisor to establish the visual narrative of the film
- Responsible for the cinematography, staging, and set dressing of the film
- Reviewing the layout with the Layout Supervisor to set up specific shots
- Work with the vendor studio to achieve the desired animation setup and working with animation files directly
- Provide and innovate ideas/solutions for the layout process, bringing in new tools and ideas to bring the concept to life on screen
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience working as a Layout Artist or Animator in the animation industry or equivalent experience
- Experience in building and leading successful teams
- Excellent written & oral communication skills
- Proficiency using a Mac, particularly in design related programs like Photoshop
- Proficiency using Maya
- Sound knowledge of cinematography and editorial principals
- Must be detail-oriented with outstanding organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize, ensuring all assignments are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Must be flexible and able to work in an environment where needs and priorities are subject to constant revision

The anticipated base salary for this position is $2,509.60/week to $2,600/week. This role qualifies for benefits pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors.
