Production Coordinator - Marketing & Custom Animation

Los Angeles, California, United States

SUMMARY

At Sony Pictures Animation, we support visionary filmmakers, champion the distinct hand of the artist, and relentlessly break convention to create bold, visual storytelling that stuns audiences around the globe. We believe our marketing and custom content pieces—from high-profile brand partnerships to bespoke animated short-form promos—are vital extensions of our feature films and series. These custom spots are often the audience's very first gateway into our worlds, meaning every single frame, beat, and pixel must hit the exact same standard of artistic brilliance as the films themselves.

We are looking for a Production Coordinator – Marketing & Custom Animation who is organized, proactive, and knows their way around an animation pipeline. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, who leads the department plan and overall schedule, you are the hands-on support that keeps everything moving: managing logistics, tracking deliverables, and making sure artists and partners have what they need, when they need it.

Sony Pictures Animation is an animation studio based in Los Angeles, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world. We pride ourselves on empowering filmmakers to lead the creative process and allowing the hand of the artist to be truly felt, with the goal of producing bold and innovative visual storytelling.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Day-to-Day Execution: Assist the Custom Animation Producer in keeping daily schedules on track, updating trackers and flagging potential delays early.
  • Coordinate Communication: Act as a point of contact between artists, internal departments (Story, Edit, Production), external studio partners, and third-party vendors, relaying information clearly and keeping everyone informed.
  • Support Artists: Help artists with logistical needs such as scheduling, assignments, notes and reference, and escalate roadblocks to the Production Manager.
  • Handle Asset & Delivery Logistics: Receive, organize, and deliver digital materials; maintain asset organization and naming conventions; and set up and run reviews and screenings (including internal and external review sessions).
  • Track & Document: Maintain production tracking documents and spreadsheets, take and distribute clear action-item notes from creative reviews, and keep records accurate and current.
  • Pitch Decks: Assist with building and updating long lead pitch decks for Consumer Products and Partnerships meetings.
  • Content Delivery: Prepare and send reference material to SPE business units and external partners.
  • Approval Tracking: Log creative approvals from third parties and SPE business units, including feedback, approvals, deadlines, and pending items.
  • Meetings & Admin: Schedule department meetings, prepare agendas, and handle general production administration (e.g., purchase orders, invoices, timesheets, and vendor paperwork as needed).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of production coordination experience, preferably in animation, VFX, or entertainment.
  • Passion & Attention to Detail: A love of animation and custom content, with a commitment to quality in fast-paced marketing turnarounds.
  • Communication & Organization: Strong interpersonal, written, and organizational skills, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and support diverse creative teams.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfort with spreadsheets, Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, and presentation tools. Experience with production tracking software (e.g., ShotGrid/Flow) and basic familiarity with Photoshop are a plus.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $25.00/hour - $31.00/hour. This role qualifies for benefits pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors.
