Sony Pictures Imageworks is seeking an Application Administrator! 

Job Summary

As an Application Administrator, you will help to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise applications, including configuring, fixing, and monitoring of these applications. You will also ensure standard processes, security, performance, and scalability protocols are followed and established. You will also collaborate with customers across multiple departments, providing user support, document processes, configurations, and standard methodologies for application management. You will also be assigned to specific projects or other initiatives as time permits. 

Education, Qualifications and Experience

Formal Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred, but equivalent experience will also be considered.

Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in coordinating and supporting enterprise applications and integrations
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Experience with ticketing systems and remote support tools
  • Experience maintaining, and improving enterprise applications, ensuring standard processes, security, performance, and scalability are followed
  • Familiarity designing and implementing enterprise integrations and custom solutions to enable and optimize core business workflows
  • Experience with end-user support, training, solving, and detailing business processes and procedures.
  • Experience working in a Linux, Windows or MacOS environment providing technical support
  • Familiarity creating dashboards, reports, and metrics to support status updates
  • Solid computing and scripting skills

Skills and Responsibilities

Customer Service Support

  • Acts as the routine contact point, receiving and handling requests for support.
  • Responds to a broad range of service requests for support by providing information to fulfill requests or enable resolution.
  • Provides first line investigation and diagnosis and promptly allocates unresolved issues as appropriate.
  • Assists with the development of standards, and applies these to track, monitor, report, resolve or raise issues. Contributes to creation of support documentation.

Application support 

  • Follows agreed procedures to identify and resolve issues with applications.
  • Uses application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics.
  • Carries out agreed applications maintenance tasks.

IT Infrastructure

  • Carries out routine operational procedures, including the execution of specified automation tools/scripts.
  • Amends existing automation tasks under supervision to gain a basic understanding of the scripting language/automation tools.
  • Contributes to maintenance and installation. Monitors and reports on infrastructure performance to enable service delivery. Resolves issues or refers to others for assistance.

Systems Software 

  • Monitors operational systems for resource usage and failure rates, to inform and facilitate system software tuning.
  • Applies system software parameters to improve throughput and efficiency.
  • Installs and tests new versions of system software.
  • Contributes to preparation of software implementation procedures with fall back contingency plans.

Systems Installation and Removal

  • Installs or removes hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools, including handover to the client.
  • Uses standard procedures and diagnostic tools to test installations, resolve problems, and document results.
  • Records details of all components that have been installed and removed. Assists users and follows agreed procedures for further help or addressing critical issues.
  • Contributes to the development of installation procedures and standards.

Security Operations 

  • Receives and responds to routine requests for security support. Maintains records and advises relevant persons of actions taken.
  • Assists in the investigation and resolution of issues relating to access controls and security systems.
  • Documents incident and event information and produces incident, exception, and management reports.

Software configuration

  • Assists in designing, verifying, documenting, amending and refactoring moderately complex software configurations for deployment.
  • Applies agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
  • Collaborates in reviews of work with others as appropriate.

Systems and software life cycle engineering

  • Elicits requirements for systems and software life cycle working practices and automation.
  • Prepares design options for the working environment of methods, procedures, techniques, tools, and people.
  • Selects systems and software life cycle working practices for software components and microservices.
  • Deploys automation to achieve well-engineered and secure outcomes.

Other

  • You will establish a clear understanding of the company's vision, goals and strategy and actively contribute to the achievement of the goals and execution of the strategy.
  • Committed to achieving desired outcomes and consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and spoken technical English.
  • Ability to work with distributed teams

The anticipated base salary for this position is $32.02 to $40/hr. Benefits are per company policy: which include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, standard increases as applicable. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
