The Role
Prepare and maintain the full set of accounts accurately. Manage 3 senior accountants. Identify and implement process improvements. Business partner with business director group and some corporate functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting and FP&A:
- Prepare monthly closing for Sotheby’s Hong Kong and Sotheby’s Singapore
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for the two companies
- Prepare monthly commentary on the P&L and forecast for Asia
- Lead in year-end budget planning and monthly forecast
- Liaise with global auditors for local and group audits, including preparation of the Hong Kong and Singapore financial statements
Others:
- Perform analysis on complex auction deals
- Business partner with the commercial finance team
- Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the senior accountants
- Review and approve journals on SAP prepared by the senior accountants
- Payment approval
- Identify areas of improvement in the current process and implement changes where appropriate
- Participate in ad-hoc duties and special projects as required
- Operate at all times in line with corporate governance and compliance policies, practices and procedures
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Degree level or equivalent, HKICPA /ACCA/ACA qualified
- 7 years+ of solid accounting and auditing experience (Big 4 trained preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English and Cantonese/ or Mandarin essential, must be able to read and write Chinese
- Previous experience with SAP is a plus but not essential
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good organisational skills with proven ability of meeting deadlines
- Detail oriented, set high demand in quality of work, effectively maintain confidentiality and preserve integrity of sensitive information/data
- Ability to work under pressure, and a flexible approach to a wide range of tasks
- Ability to work flexible hours in addition to normal business hours
