THE ROLE

  • The Head of Marketing & Strategy, Asia is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and driving Sotheby’s marketing vision across Asia.
  • The role requires a highly strategic, commercially minded leader who thrives in a complex, matrixed, and fast-evolving environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regional Marketing Strategy
    • Define and lead the overall marketing strategy for Asia, ensuring strong alignment with global vision while adapting to regional market dynamics and priorities.
    •  Act as a senior strategic partner to regional leadership, contributing to business planning and shaping growth priorities by bringing strong market, consumer, and competitive awareness, helping surface emerging trends and opportunities, and ensuring marketing strategy supports Sotheby’s long-term positioning across Asia.
    • Drive disciplined prioritization of regional marketing projects in a fast-evolving environment with competing demands and limited resources, championing a data-driven approach with clear performance measurement and ROI accountability to ensure focus on the highest-impact opportunities and elevate marketing’s strategic effectiveness.
    • Serve as a key liaison to global marketing leadership, articulating Asia’s market dynamics, client behavior, and growth opportunities to ensure informed global decision-making and strategic alignment.
  • Regional Marketing Execution
    • Lead and oversee all sales-related marketing across Asia, including support for Auctions, Private Sales, and Retail, directing an integrated team spanning Sales Marketing, Branding, Events, Design, Social and etc to deliver cohesive campaigns that drive engagement and enhance client experience across Fine Art and Luxury categories.
    • Initiate and lead impactful regional brand-building programs that elevate Sotheby’s cultural authority, deepen brand resonance, and strengthen long-term brand equity across Asia.
    • Oversee marketing support for the Hong Kong Maison retail business, including calendar planning, exhibitions, events, and programming to ensure cohesive storytelling and brand consistency.
    • Manage regional marketing budgets with strategic allocation, performance tracking, and financial discipline.
  • Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
    • Navigate complex cross-functional and cross-regional environments, proactively key stakeholders across Asia and global teams to ensure alignment and forward momentum.
    • Collaborate with the Global Partnerships team and regional stakeholders to identify and advance strategic partnership opportunities that enhance brand visibility and client engagement in Asia
    • Partner closely with Global Marketing and regional counterparts to translate global frameworks into impactful regional execution.
    • Ensure clear communication, alignment, and accountability across all marketing-related initiatives.
  •  Team Leadership & Organizational Management
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, cross-functional Asia marketing team.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and adaptability within a fast-paced, evolving environment.
    • Establish clear operating rhythms, governance, and performance standards across the regional marketing function.
    • Drive continuous improvement in processes, workflows, and team capabilities to support long-term growth.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • 15+ years of experience in strategic marketing leadership roles, preferably within luxury, art, culture, or adjacent industries.
  •  Proven track record of leading large, cross-functional teams in complex regional or global organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing high-impact, integrated marketing strategies.
  • Strong commercial acumen and data-driven mindset.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior executive level.
  • Experience operating in fast-changing, high-growth, or entrepreneurial environments; ability to bring a “builder” or start-up mindset within an established global organization.
  • Deep appreciation for art, culture, and luxury.
  • Fluent in English and Chinese.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
