THE ROLE

The role is key in driving client growth and revenue generation across categories for Sotheby’s Italy. It combines 
client development, project management and growth execution, leveraging targeted events, experiences, 
partnerships and data‑driven initiatives to acquire new clients, deepen existing relationships and unlock 
incremental revenue opportunities. The role works closely with local Senior Leaders to leverage tailored events, 
experiences and partnerships to drive client engagement and business outcomes, while supporting the execution 
of the regional growth strategy for Italy

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Regional Strategy and Client Development

Drive client acquisition and development initiatives aligned with Italy’s cross‑category growth priorities, 
including Modern & Contemporary Art, Jewels, single‑owner collections and Private Sales.

 Leverage internal client databases to unlock under‑activated opportunities and support proactive client 
outreach.

Support the sourcing pipeline through targeted client engagement initiatives, Private Selling Exhibitions and 
curated experiences, in close collaboration with Senior Specialists.

Events, Partnerships & Non-Auction Revenue

Design and oversee client‑driven programme of events and experiences, with a clear focus on business impact 
such as Private Sales, new client acquisition and cross‑category opportunities.

 Lead the activation strategy of Palazzo Serbelloni beyond auctions, supporting growth ambitions in the context 
of the 12‑year lease renewal.

Develop and implement non‑auction initiatives generating incremental revenue, including activating the 
Gallery outside the auction season.

Assess potential opportunities for Private Selling Exhibitions and coordinate their execution, where 
appropriate.

Build, manage and expand strategic partnerships and collaborations, identifying additional relevant partners 
aligned with Italy’s growth objectives.

Leverage key fairs to reinforce local presence, sourcing and client cultivation.

Develop initiatives aimed at engaging the next generation of buyers and emerging collectors.

Client Data & Insights

Exploit client data to expand and deepen the Italian client base, identify new client segments and support 
proactive outreach strategies.

Work closely with global client strategy teams to ensure alignment, consistency and best-practice sharing.

Track and report on key client-related KPIs, including new client acquisition, client reactivation, Private Sales 
contribution and non-auction revenue.

Marketing Enablement

Coordinate the local execution of marketing initiatives for Italy, acting as a relay with global and central 
marketing teams.

Ensure marketing content and campaigns effectively support Italy’s growth objectives, with a particular focus 
on Private Sales, events, partnerships and client acquisition

 

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

This is a growth‑driven and multifaceted role, suited to a hands‑on, experienced professional with ideally 6+ years 
of relevant experience in revenue growth, client development and project leadership within a high‑touch, art and 
luxury, client‑centric environment.
The role requires a high‑impact, versatile profile able to contribute to regional strategy and priority initiatives, while 
also driving execution end‑to‑end. It calls for someone who can operate with a high degree of autonomy and 
accountability, manage complex projects, and translate initiatives into tangible business outcomes without 
extensive oversight.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Art or equivalent experience, with expert knowledge of the market.
  • Excellent organizational abilities, and a keen eye for detail.
  • Solid understanding of the auction process and budget reporting.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Italian; fluency in French or another European language is a plus.
  • Ability to work within a demanding environment, with flexibility in managing a diverse range of tasks.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Commitment to delivering exemplary client service.
  • Strong time management skills, able to prioritize effectively.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and maintain excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in numeracy and computer literacy.
  • Self-motivated, with a strong desire to learn and grow professionally.
  • Strong ability to identify and drive growth opportunities.
