We’re looking for an experienced Director of Product to join our Ads product team. This team is responsible for managing the end-to-end Ads experience at SoundCloud, leading a critically important line of business for the company. This individual will work with cross-functional partners to own and innovate upon our ad-serving logic & algorithms, manage existing formats including video, audio, and display, and develop new placements and products across Web, iOS, and Android.

As a Director of Product on the Ads team, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating the trajectory of SoundCloud’s global business by working across teams in Berlin, London, New York, and Los Angeles to execute and drive impact. This role requires excellent problem-solving intuition, self-motivation to identify and build empathy for user needs, concise & simple communication across both technical and leadership stakeholders, and a principled approach to execution in pursuit of business impact. 

More than anything, you’re passionate about leveraging your expertise in the ads industry to strike the right balance between user and business needs, and take pride in building great consumer ads products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities to grow SoundCloud’s ads business through an understanding of user needs, business needs, and technical feasibility
  • Lead adoption of the ads industry's best practices to drive innovation and facilitate a best-in-class global business, including support across platforms, resellers, and partners
  • Maximize ad yield given available inventory, and unlock new inventory, through optimization of the ads experience across mobile & web
  • Drive end-to-end execution of projects from concept through prioritization, design, build, launch, experimentation, and iteration
  • Work closely with the engineering, design, data, research, marketing, and business teams to ensure requirements are well-defined, clear, and aligned with strategic goals
  • Attend and actively contribute to the cross-functional team ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions
  • Be the go-to person for day-to-day management of features and capabilities within the payments platform, addressing team inquiries and managing day-to-day operations
  • Act as a liaison, communicate outcomes, and manage tradeoffs amongst multiple feature teams and stakeholders, including SoundCloud’s executive team and senior leadership 

Experience and Background:

  • Bachelor's degree or work experience in a relevant field with 8+ years of product management experience, with a consistent track record of launches and quantifiable wins
  • Significant industry expertise working with ad-tech & ads products
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions
  • Experience working closely with engineers, designers, and data scientists
  • Familiarity with core mobile, web, and backend applications
  • Thorough, detail-oriented, and organized, with the ability to lead multiple projects in parallel
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, as well as a high level of comfort leading workshops and presentations with a diverse group of stakeholders and teams
