We are looking for a senior/principal iOS Engineer to join the SoundCloud Apple Platforms team, with a mission to deliver seamless, high-quality experiences across iOS, Apple Watch, and CarPlay that connect millions of users with the music and artists they love. You’ll play a key role in shaping the SoundCloud mobile experience, helping users discover unique content and interact with the platform wherever they are.

This role offers a great opportunity to grow as an iOS engineer while shaping key parts of the SoundCloud experience across Apple platforms and making meaningful contributions to how users discover and connect with music.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain SoundCloud’s apps across Apple platforms (iOS, Apple Watch, CarPlay), delivering responsive, high-quality user experiences
  • Contribute to the modernization of our codebase by refactoring Objective-C and modularizing components using Swift and SwiftUI
  • Build and optimize UI components using SwiftUI, with a focus on performance, accessibility, and platform consistency
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including product, design, backend, and analytics—to define, build, and iterate on features
    Support experimentation and data-driven product development by integrating A/B testing and tracking into mobile features
  • Take part in architectural decisions, code reviews, and engineering best practices to ensure maintainable, scalable mobile development

Background & Experience:

  • Professional experience building iOS applications using Swift, with strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, SwiftUI
  • Comfortable working in and improving large, existing codebases, including refactoring Objective-C and maintaining clean, maintainable code
  • Eager to learn new technologies, experiment, and continuously improve as an engineer
  • Skilled at working in cross-functional teams, proactively communicating, and breaking down complex problems into simple, elegant solutions
  • Thrives in a collaborative, agile environment, while also capable of working independently and taking initiative
  • Passionate about music, mobile development, and building intuitive, high-impact experiences for millions of users
  • Previous experience with AVFoundation is a plus

Data Transfer

SoundCloud will share your data with the responsible employees of their People Team and with employees otherwise involved in your application process.

Furthermore, external companies may process your personal data on our behalf on the basis of order processing contracts in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR. Categories of recipients in this case are Internet service providers, providers of employee management systems and software, and providers of software that we use in all departments (e.g., video conferencing software).

Your personal data will be shared with Greenhouse Software, Inc., a cloud services provider located in the United States of America and engaged by SoundCloud to help manage its recruitment and hiring process on SoundCloud’s behalf. Accordingly, if you are located outside of the United States, your personal data will be transferred to the United States once you submit it through this site. Because the European Union Commission has determined that United States data privacy laws do not ensure an adequate level of protection for personal data collected from EU data subjects, the transfer will be subject to appropriate additional safeguards under standard contractual clauses. By submitting your application, you expressly consent to your data being transferred to the USA for processing as described above.

Retention Period

In the event that your application results in an offer of employment, information collected during the recruitment process will be incorporated into your permanent personnel record. This data will be retained for the duration of your employment and for a subsequent period as required by local statutory regulations and legal limitation periods.

For candidates who do not enter into an employment relationship with us:

  • United States: We will retain your information for a minimum of 1 year following the final hiring decision to ensure compliance with federal record-keeping mandates.
