
Senior Machine Learning Engineer, ASR

In this role, you will:
- Train, tune and test state-of-the-art ASR models for different languages for all SoundHound voice AI products using machine learning and deep learning techniques
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of ASR technologies into SoundHound products
- Run benchmarks to monitor performance of ASR solutions and optimize ASR models for accuracy, efficiency and scalability across various platforms and applications
- Provide customized ASR solutions to meet any customer-specific or product-specific ASR challenges
- Triage and troubleshoot customer-related ASR issues and provide timely solutions
- Work independently and lead technical initiatives to plan, design and create new tools and features to enhance SoundHound ASR technologies
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within the organization
We would love to hear from you if:
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other relevant disciplines with 8 years of full-time work experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 years of full-time work experience
- You have experience in automatic speech recognition, natural language understanding, or other spoken language processing field. Especially, if you’ve worked with both end-to-end and hybrid ASR models
- You have strong understanding of machine learning, deep learning and neural network fundamentals
- Proficient in machine learning and deep learning frameworks (Pytorch in particular, but experience with other frameworks is also welcome)
- You have experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and other containerization technologies in cloud service environment
- You are proficient in writing Python code that is documented, well tested, packaged, and follows industry best practices. Experience with C++ is also appreciated
- You have experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical initiatives
We’d be especially excited if your MSc/PhD thesis focuses on ASR, you have published work in relevant conferences (such as Interspeech, ICASSP, NeurIPS, etc.), or you have experience with on-device ASR (e.g., using TorchScript). Additionally, if you have experience with PyTorch, have worked on projects enabling on-device model deployment, possess a strong understanding of the end-to-end ASR pipeline, and have experience developing, tuning, deploying, and maintaining ASR models.
FOR GERMANY: Employees within a 100-kilometer radius of our Berlin office are expected to work from the office on three pre-scheduled “core days” each month to encourage cross-team connection and in-person collaboration. Aside from these office-specific “core days”, this role allows for virtual/remote, hybrid, and in-office workplace setting options. The estimated salary for this position is €90,000 - €110,000 plus equity. Our recruiting team will provide a specific salary range based on location and years of experience.
