Sound Point Capital Management, a credit-oriented investment manager overseeing approximately $46 billion in total assets, is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Vice President / Senior Associate to join its Risk & Valuations team. This mid-level role will be integral to the valuation oversight of complex credit portfolios, PnL attribution, and the development of robust valuation processes and financial controls. The position involves cross-functional collaboration with investment, operations, and accounting teams and provides meaningful exposure to a wide range of structured and private credit assets.

Key Responsibilities:

Valuations Oversight & Analysis

  • Support monthly and quarterly valuation processes across various asset types including CLOs (debt and equity), FinTech loans, private credit, ABS, asset-based loans, and illiquid credit instruments.
  • Collaborate with investment professionals to review internal valuation models and market assumptions.
  • Perform input validation and reconciliation for valuation models, and coordinate with third-party valuation providers and auditors.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting materials for Valuation Committee meetings, documenting key judgments and methodologies.
  • Coordinate with fund accounting teams to reconcile NAVs, valuations, and performance metrics.

PnL Attribution & Financial Analytics

  • Develop and maintain tools for portfolio and position-level PnL attribution/analytics.
  • Conduct daily/monthly reconciliation of income and pricing movements; partner with operations to ensure accurate NAV flows.
  • Contribute to the automation of performance analytics and enterprise-level reporting dashboards.

Risk, Controls, and Governance

  • Support stress testing, exposure monitoring, and ad-hoc risk analysis projects under direction of the Head of Risk & Valuations.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of valuation policies and internal controls.
  • Participate in governance initiatives including contributions to an Operational Risk Committee, broader firmwide risk processes, and continued ESG process enhancement.

Qualifications:

  • 4–7 years of experience in asset management, private credit, valuation advisory, or structured credit.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in valuing a range of credit instruments including CLOs, ABS, middle market loans, private credit, or specialty finance assets.
  • Familiarity with valuation systems and tools such as iHS Markit, Advent Geneva, Allvue Everest, or IVP.
  • Strong financial modeling skills; comfort working with large and complex data sets.
  • Direct experience with third-party valuation providers and fund administrators is highly desirable.
  • Undergraduate degree required; CFA or progression toward designation preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis, controls automation, and process improvement.
  • Strong understanding of PnL attribution and portfolio-level performance metrics.
  • Ability to communicate valuation and risk concepts clearly to senior stakeholders across investment, operations, and finance teams.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive mindset and ability to manage projects independently.

Salary Range

$125,000-$175,000 base plus bonus eligible
