Credit Analyst – U.S. Loan Investing Team

Sound Point Capital Management, a credit-oriented investment manager overseeing approximately $44 billion in total assets, is seeking a credit analyst to help support the growth of its $32 billion U.S. Performing Credit platform. This analyst will help formulate recommendations on new leveraged loan and high yield bond investment opportunities and be responsible for the credit analysis of a few different industry sectors. 

Sound Point has a diverse product line which includes CLOs and various funds that invest in stressed and distressed credit, commercial real estate, structured products, consumer loans, and corporate special situations. Based in New York, the firm employs more than 200 talented individuals and has grown steadily since inception. Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth fundamental credit analysis of leveraged issuers in both primary and secondary markets
• Develop and maintain financial models, including base, upside, and downside scenarios
• Perform capital structure analysis and evaluate covenant packages
• Participate in due diligence for new investment opportunities, including management calls and third-party reports
• Draft investment memos and present recommendations to the investment committee
• Monitor portfolio positions, track company performance, and update internal risk ratings
• Interface with sales, trading, legal, and risk teams as needed
• Stay up to date on market trends, sector developments, and macroeconomic conditions impacting credit quality

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• CFA or MBA a plus
• 4+ years of experience in leveraged finance, credit research, or a related field.
• Strong accounting and financial modeling skills (Excel proficiency required; familiarity with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, or LCD a plus)
• Deep understanding of credit documentation, capital structures, and recovery analysis
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including memo writing and presentation delivery
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• High degree of intellectual curiosity and attention to detail

Base Salary Range

$100,000 - $150,000
