Account Manager

Summary: Develop, coordinate, and implement all sales functions associated with selling thermoplastic materials within an assigned territory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop sales strategies and action plans for identified targets of opportunity.
- Secure orders from existing and potential customers by visiting customer facility and contacting by phone.
- Obtain product specifications and secure opportunities to quote on customer requirements.
- Coordinate with Credit Manager to facilitate initial credit and to collect receivables.
- Follow up (by phone or visit) on quotations submitted to customers.
- Establishes professional customer/vendor relationships with appropriate customer personnel (Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Management, other key personnel).
- Place customer orders and sample requests with Customer Service.
- Assist Product Development staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs.
- Provide timely response to customer inquiries, problems and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Perform all assigned duties in the assigned sales territory.
Preferred Experience, Training, and Skills:
- 5-7 years technical marketing, engineering, or sales experience with the company or in the plastics industry.
- Outside sales experience and/or Product development experience is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable, extroverted personality, well organized.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new business and achieve profitable sales in highly competitive markets.
- Must be able to travel to customer sites and other SPI required travel.
- Skilled in the use of basic computer software, including word-processing and spreadsheets.
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management, Engineering, or equivalent.
Working Conditions, Travel, and Physical Requirements:
- Field-based travel and home office environment.
- Domestic travel up to 70%.
