Title: Audit and Inventory Analyst

Position Summary

The Audit and Inventory Analyst is responsible for managing the end-to-end auditing, optimization, and inventory lifecycle of fixed and wireless telecommunications services. This role ensures billing accuracy, maximizes cost recovery, drives ongoing savings initiatives, and maintains a comprehensive and reliable telecom inventory database.

The Analyst works closely with the Audit and Inventory Manager, Operations Team, vendors, and clients to deliver measurable financial results while improving visibility and control across telecom environments. This position requires strong analytical skills, deep telecom billing expertise, and the ability to translate complex findings into clear client-facing insights.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management (70%)

  • Develop, validate, and maintain accurate telecom inventories for fixed and wireless services, ensuring alignment with billing records and operational data.
    • Reconcile inventory records against vendor invoices, contracts, and internal systems to eliminate discrepancies.
    • Categorize and classify services accurately (e.g., voice, data, MPLS, SIP, wireless lines, circuits, cloud connectivity, etc.).
    • Proactively gather missing inventory data from vendors, carriers, and client stakeholders to ensure completeness and transparency.
    • Maintain detailed itemization including circuit IDs, account numbers, service addresses, contract terms, billing rates, and associated cost centers.
    • Support inventory optimization initiatives by identifying unused, underutilized, or redundant services.
    • Understand each client’s telecom environment, network architecture, and operational structure to ensure proper inventory alignment.
    • Assist in onboarding new clients by building baseline inventories and validating historical billing data.
    • Ensure documentation and inventory records are audit-ready and support compliance requirements.

Audit & Optimization (30%)

  • Conduct detailed audits of telecom invoices (wireline, wireless, data, voice, and ancillary services) to identify billing discrepancies, contractual non-compliance, duplicate charges, and unused services.
    • Analyze vendor billing against contracts, tariffs, service guides, and rate plans to validate accuracy.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities such as service disconnects, rate plan optimizations, contract renegotiation triggers, and technology consolidation.
    • Prepare detailed audit findings, savings summaries, and executive-level reports for internal stakeholders and client presentations.
    • Initiate, track, and resolve billing disputes with telecom vendors to secure credits and refunds in a timely manner.
    • Maintain dispute logs and ensure proper credit application and reconciliation.
    • Track monthly, quarterly, and annual savings metrics and report results to clients and management.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance audit methodologies, reporting accuracy, and cost recovery processes.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the Telecommunications industry (wireline and/or wireless).
    • 3+ years of direct experience in Telecom Audit and Inventory Management.
    • 5+ years of experience analyzing telecom vendor billing and contracts.
    • Strong working knowledge of telecom tariffs, service guides, rate structures, and carrier contracts.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis), Outlook, and Teams.
    • Experience with telecom expense management (TEM) platforms is preferred.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
    • High attention to detail with the ability to manage large datasets accurately.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing client-facing reports.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and manage multiple client inventories simultaneously.
    • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally with operations, vendors, and clients.
