Who We Are: 
Space Kinetic is a cleared, venture-backed startup focused on addressing urgent national security priorities. Our goal is to deliver a suite of asymmetric capabilities for space superiority and missile defense leveraging our proprietary electromechanical deployment system, which enables the rapid deployment of low-cost payloads through space without firing a thruster. Space Kinetic is currently assembling its TRL-5 prototype. Our goal is to leverage this platform to provide the United States with a new tool for securing the space domain & catalyzing the emerging space economy. 

What You’ll Do: 
The Head of Federal Growth “owns the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense customer” and is responsible for sales, revenue generation, and growth. The Head of Federal Growth will lead Space Kinetic’s penetration of the IC and DoD market for our space technology and will develop and execute a plan to maximize revenue and profit. The Head of Federal Growth will build and maintain relationships with IC and DoD customers, contractors, and partners; develop and implement capture strategies; lead proposal preparation in coordination with the technical team; and support contract negotiations and program execution. The Head of Federal Growth will participate in product development, marketing, communications, and the development and implementation of Space Kinetic’s business strategyThe successful candidate will have extensive experience with the intelligence community and Department of Defense, be mission-focused, be well connected and highly regarded in the IC and DoD and have a thorough understanding of technical requirements and solutions. 

Responsibilities 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with IC and DoD customers, contractors, partners, and suppliers 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IC and DoD customers for their procurement of our space technology 
  • Identify, qualify, and capture IC and DoD opportunities to build the pipeline and grow the business 
  • Assess and understand IC and DoD market requirements and the drivers of these requirements 
  • Explain and justify the benefits of Space Kinetic’s capabilities to IC and DoD customers and contractors 
  • Assess and understand competitive offerings and customer alternatives 
  • Develop, market, and sell products and services that address selected IC and DoD market requirements and position Space Kinetic competitively to generate sustainable revenue, profit, and growth 
  • Own the IC and DoD customer relationship and ensure customer satisfaction 
  • Articulate customer requirements and guide the development of solutions 
  • Develop and implement capture strategies; lead proposal preparation 
  • Support contract negotiations and program execution 
  • Drive product and service development in anticipation of changing market requirements 
  • Monitor the changing competitive environment; anticipate and respond to emerging threats 
  • Provide input to Space Kinetic’s business strategy, and draft and implement IC and DoD business development objectives aligned with the business strategy 
  • Support Space Kinetic’s communications, including website, social media, press relations, advertising, participation in conferences and trade shows, etc., to ensure alignment with and furtherance of Space Kinetic’s business strategy and objectives 
  • Work with the Space Kinetic’s leadership team to create, build, and grow a world-class organization 

What It Takes: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of experience in the IC community or DoD 
  • Extensive experience with the IC and DoD missions that would benefit from the Space Kinetic capability, including mission requirements and operations and technical requirements 
  • Ability to explain and justify technical and programmatic benefits of the Space Kinetic capability to IC and DoD customers and contractors 
  • Well recognized and highly regarded in the IC and DoD community, with an extensive contact base 
  • Experience with NRO, CIA, NGA, and other IC and DoD organizations 
  • Familiarity with the NRO EnhancedView program 
  • Experience with IC and DoD requirements and procurement organizations 
  • Expertise in IC and DoD procurements, procurement regulations, proposal preparation, and contract negotiation 
  • Track record of success in IC and DoD program capture 
  • Ability to work well with others and as a member of the Space Kinetic team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, start-up environment 
  • Proactive, sound judgement, anticipate consequences, act decisively in the face of ambiguity 
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate agreement in challenging situations 
  • Effective English language verbal and written communication skills 
  • Current SCI access

Where You’ll Be:

  • The position will be remote.  Our headquarters is based in Torrance, CA. 
  • It is ideal if you are located near a major metropolitan location within the US with relevance to the space industry, including but not limited to, San Francisco Bay Area CA, Los Angeles CA, Huntsville AL, Denver CO, Houston, TX and Washington DC area.  We are flexible with regards to the location and the ability to work from home.

The annual base salary for this role is currently $175,000 - $225,000.  Pay Grades are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data.  Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education/experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.
