Senior Proposal Manager / Business Development (Space Industry)

Who We Are: 
Space Kinetic is a cleared, venture-backed startup focused on addressing urgent national security priorities. Our goal is to deliver a suite of asymmetric capabilities for space superiority and missile defense leveraging our proprietary electromechanical deployment system, which enables the rapid deployment of low-cost payloads through space without firing a thruster. Space Kinetic is currently assembling its TRL-5 prototype. Our goal is to leverage this platform to provide the United States with a new tool for securing the space domain & catalyzing the emerging space economy. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • This is an integral role developing and delivering winning proposals and technical materials. We are looking for a highly organized individual with excellent writing and communications skills, the ability to address technical subject matter, and a collaborative team spirit.   
  • Lead the drafting and development of highly detailed, customer-focused, and compelling proposals in response to RFIs, RFPs/RFQs, solicitations, SBIRs, BAAs, STTRs, and company-initiated opportunities 
  • Work closely with the Business Development team as well as subject matter experts on our engineering teams in the preparation of proposals 
  • Interact effectively with cross-functional teams (Business Development, Business Leaders, Engineering, Operations, Finance, etc.) to deliver compliant, professional proposals 
  • Schedule and conduct appropriate technical, financial, and strategy reviews 
  • Assign, track, and deliver on time the appropriate proposal components  
  • Support proposal strategy and discriminator development, planning, and catalog concept development 
  • Support Marketing and Communications in preparing materials to communicate the Space Kinetic value proposition and in translating technical concepts into marketing materials 
  • Support the engineering team in developing descriptive materials related to technical concepts, operations, equipment, and documentation 
  • Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously

What It Takes: 

  • Bachelor's in Science, Engineering, Management, or other technical field or equivalent experience 
  • 5+ experience in commercial and/or USG civil proposal management and writing
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, start-up environment
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, and managerial skills
  • Experience leading proposal teams in the consistent use of processes and procedures
  • Track record in delivering winning proposals
  • Capable of understanding and/or learning a variety of technical concepts
  • Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities while remaining well-organized
  • Able to excel under tight deadlines
  • Ability to write well in English with technical writing skills, style, and structures
  • Ability to research and synthesize information into a cohesive and persuasive written proposal
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a clearance TS/SCI

What We’d Love: 

  • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with customers, senior management, and peers, and to function as a member of the Space Kinetic team 
  • PMP certification  
  • Familiarity with New Space companies, Earth observation, and other types of missions  
  • Familiarity with USG civil procurement and contracting policies and practices for space systems, subcontract practices, and standard clauses and requirements 
  • A solid understanding of Federal procurement practices, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Other Transaction Authority (OTA), International Traffic and Arms Regulation (ITAR), and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) 

Where You’ll Be: 

  • The position will be remote.  Our headquarters is based in Torrance, CA. 
  • It is ideal if you are located near a major metropolitan location within the US with relevance to the space industry, including but not limited to, San Francisco Bay Area CA, Los Angeles CA, Huntsville AL, Denver CO, Houston, TX and Washington DC area.  We are flexible with regards to the location and the ability to work from home.

The annual base salary for this role is currently $150,000 - $169,000. Pay Grades are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data.  Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education/experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.
