
Electrical Engineering Technician (Part-Time)
A New Paradigm For Space Operations.
What You’ll Do:
Space Kinetic is looking for a part-time Electrical Engineering Technician. This role will support the design, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems. Candidates should possess strong engineering fundamentals and an understanding of quality control standards. The Electrical Engineering Technician will assist in wiring Space Kinetics prototype, this includes wiring sensors, motor drivers, computers between the hardware and electrical systems. The person will be working with Space Kinetic engineers on site supporting testing of prototypes, collecting data, and providing reports to the engineering team. The person will also support installing sensors, setting up test stands, and monitoring equipment while in use.
What It Takes:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical associate degree or tech trade school preferred.
- Minimum two years formal electronics training or four years of progressively responsible, on-scene experience in electrical/electronic assembly.
- 2+ years’ experience working with electrical systems
- Expertise with engineering technology, materials, and equipment, including repair of mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience using electrical tools and equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and soldering equipment for construction of items as described in the drawings
- Wiring 240 VAC and 300 VDC circuits
- Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale and/or resolve concerns
- Experience doing new development work for any of the following: optics, star trackers, cameras, motors, reaction wheels, batteries, harnessing, ethernet switches, FPGAs, antennas, or any other specialized area relevant to spacecraft.
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment, ability to deliver against an aggressive schedule
- In order to be successful in this role, you should be someone who is uniquely creative, self-driven, and is able to lead his or her projects to completion
- General knowledge of mechanical assemblies and parts
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder).
- Ability to maintain or obtain Government Security Clearance.
What We’d Love:
- Prior experience with spacecraft design
- Experience working on a launch vehicle or satellite development effort
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
- Passion for the commercial and government space industry.
Where You’ll Be:
- The position will be on site in Albuquerque, NM.
