
Construction Tradesman (6 month contract)
A New Paradigm For Space Operations.
What You’ll Do:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Tradesman to work on the buildout, setup, and launch of operations at our new manufacturing facility in El Segundo. This is a 6-month contract role focused on taking the facility from construction through full operational readiness. The Construction Tradesman position will be responsible for various trades during renovation. Preferable experience in general contracting, flooring, electrical, plumbing, drywall, texture, painting, heating and air conditioning services. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, disciplined, and entrepreneurial, with a proven ability to work independently while maintaining exceptional standards.
This is a contract position full-time (40 hours), on-site position in a fast-paced startup environment.
Technical Proficiency
- Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in multiple trades, ideal candidate will have the experience necessary to provide service repairs and maintenance in a combination of trades, from experience in general contracting, flooring, electrical, plumbing, drywall, texture, painting, heating and air conditioning services.
- Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain facility systems and equipment across diverse environments.
- Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Problem-solving and Analytical Skills
- Strong troubleshooting abilities to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
- Analytical mindset to assess work orders and determine the best course of action for completing tasks.
Tool and Equipment Knowledge
- Proficiency in using a wide range of tools and equipment for general and specialized tasks.
- Understanding of tool maintenance and care to ensure operational efficiency.
Safety Awareness
- Comprehensive knowledge of workplace safety practices, protocols, and hazard prevention.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment for self and others.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position: overtime or weekend hours may be required.
- Work is primarily performed in a mechanical shop environment.
- May involve lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and exposure to noise, grease, and fumes.
What It Takes
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and diagnostics.
- Experience in commercial construction, facility maintenance or service industry.
- Ability to operate, use, and maintain a variety of equipment including saws, drills, grinders and various hand and power tools used in the trades.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of shop management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including collaboration, resiliency, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, judgment, and decision-making across all organizational levels.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver innovative solutions and resolve issues.
- Must meet U.S. Government export regulations requirements: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

- The position is onsite in El Segundo, CA.

This position is subject to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Candidates must be a U.S. Person (this includes U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Protected Individual as defined by law), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. The annual base salary for this role is below. Pay Grades are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education/experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.
Pay Range
$75,000 - $125,000 USD
