Sr. Facilities Assurance Analyst, Data Centers

Memphis, TN

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

SR. FACILITIES ASSURANCE ANALYST, DATA CENTERS

Information Assurance is the practice of providing confidence that systems, products, and processes meet security, regulatory, and compliance obligations. It bridges governance with technical execution — validating that controls are in place, risks are managed, and requirements are met for both internal and customer-facing systems.

As a teammate on the Information Assurance team, you will own facilities assurance for large-scale SpaceX data centers, from live buildout through ongoing operations. The job is discovering, checking, and maintaining a corpus of facilities evidence for audits: chiller maintenance, Megapack and energy-storage maintenance, fire drills and life-safety tests, generators and power, and related site systems. The ideal candidate is at home in a live data center, not only in a document library. You walk the floor with technicians, confirm that equipment was maintained and that tests ran, file that evidence so it is ready for audit, and stay effective when the site is mid-build, mid-cutover, or already operating.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Discover, collect, and maintain audit evidence for data center facilities: scheduled maintenance on chillers, energy storage (Megapacks), electrical distribution, and related systems; fire drills and other life-safety tests; generator and power tests that demonstrate the equipment works.
  • Confirm controls in the field. Walk down equipment, observe tests, and verify that what is on paper matches what ran. Start a generator and confirm it performs when that is the test.
  • Support live buildout and cutovers, including temporary-to-permanent cooling and power or generation cutovers, and capture evidence through those events.
  • Partner with data center facilities, HVAC, fire protection, power, construction, Physical Security, and EHS. The work is person-to-person on site, not ticket-only.
  • Track gaps, missing maintenance, and failed or skipped tests. Drive remediation with the teams who own the equipment and close the evidence file.
  • Keep the facilities evidence corpus complete and current across a multi-site portfolio that is still being built and already running.
  • Feed facilities evidence into data center audit and certification work. Translate what happened on the floor into control narratives assessors can use.
  • Improve how evidence is captured so monthly maintenance, drills, and tests are repeatable and not a scramble at audit time.
  • Mentor fellow teammates and take an active role in their development.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 5+ years of experience in large-scale data center facilities or critical infrastructure operations (power, cooling, energy storage, or life safety) in a live buildout and/or operating environment.
  • 5+ years of experience collecting, verifying, or maintaining operational evidence for facilities systems (maintenance records, drills and tests, commissioning, or equipment cutovers).

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Hands-on time with data center mechanical and electrical systems: chillers, CRAH/CRAC or equivalent cooling, generators, electrical distribution, battery energy storage (Megapacks or equivalent), and fire/life-safety.
  • Worked on a live data center floor with HVAC, fire, and power technicians, not only with documents.
  • Facilities evidence during construction or commissioning and into steady-state operations.
  • Supported cooling or power cutovers from temporary to permanent equipment.
  • Built or maintained an evidence corpus used in a data center or facilities audit (ISO 27001, SOC 2, or equivalent). Time on the equipment is the core. Audit-program experience is a plus.
  • Ability to walk down a site, tell whether a test or maintenance event actually occurred, and write that up so someone who was not there can follow it.
  • Works on the data center floor through buildout and operations, with technicians, not from a single desk.
  • Professional credentials in data center facilities, commissioning, or assurance (ATD, ATS, CxA, or CISA) are a plus, not a requirement.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position is based in the Memphis, TN area. This role requires you to be onsite; remote/hybrid work will not be considered.
  • Must be willing to travel (<25%) domestically (and internationally as needed) in support of data center audits and other assurance activities.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to support audit windows and critical remediation.

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
